Thanks guys-yet again. I really do appreciate this.
I'm going to be incommunicado for a couple of days. I'm going away to a very small, very quiet coastal village(ironic, as I actually LIVE in a small, quiet coastal town..lol) to try and get my head together. Sean will be here with all the furbies, so I know they'll all be okay.
Ever since Ruars went missing, I've been feeling things building up. I've been 'getting on with it' (I hate that phrase) but it's got to a point where I just need to get away for a bit, eat my weight in seafood-and reacquaint myself with my Kindle.
I'm hoping that being away will possibly give me new ideas, a fresh perspective, and I'll come back on Monday raring to go again.
Have a nice, peaceful weekend all. See you Monday
Sazz xxRuaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x
If you can't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them.
I will respect your opinions, even if I don't agree with them0 -
I really hope you can relax and enjoy the weekend, safe in the knowledge that because of all your efforts, there are still thousands of people looking out for ruars and praying for his safe return.
We know you will never give up,but you need time for your head and body to have a break. No one deserves it more than you.0 -
You deserve this break so much.
Everytime I come on here I come looking for some good news so I can only imagine how you are feeling.
I know so many of us are praying that he hurrys home
Take Care x0 -
Oh Sazzy I hope this weekend brings you the peace you truly deserve. You have been so strong and brave, in fact quite amazing how you have held it together for so long. I'm not sure I would have been able to. xx0

I'm sure you never needed a beak soi much sazzy. Will you be on your own? Pity Sean can't go too.
Hope you find some peace and quiet!0 -
Sazzy, I know you won't be reading this for a few days, but I felt I had to post this for when you get back.
A woman on a dog forum I sometimes visit, who runs a rescue in Wales, has recently traced her dog after 9 years missing! Unfortunately, they could have been reunited a lot earlier, as the dog was handed into the Dogs trust in 2006 but rather than contacting the owner after scanning her chip they just applied for a change of ownership, which was granted by the chip company without them ever contacting the original owner!
Its a truly truly appalling and heartbreaking story, but the lesson is that you can't necessarily trust the chip company to contact you if Ruars is found. You might need to stay in touch with them regularly.
Here's the story:
"Hi All
Many of you will know the story of Sophie my missing Yorkshire Terrier who has been lost since 1st August 2003. For those that don't below is a link to a story I was asked to write by Debbie Matthews who set up Vets Get Scanning when her two Yorkshire terriers were stolen.
http://vetsgetscanning.co.uk/microchipped-yorkshire-terrier-sophie-was-rehomed-and-owner-denied-reunification-6-years-ago/
In the last week Sophie has been on my mind even more than usual and I decided to conatct various places to do updates. I got in touch with DogLost who were fab and updated her thread for me. On Wednesday morning, after much searching for the paperwork, I contacted AVID who are the database company that Sophie is registered with. I was in total shock when told that Sophie , now called Scruffy, had been re-registered to new owners in 2006.
Today I have spoken to Giles Webber who is Dogs Trust Operations Director. Sophie was handed in to Bridgend centre in 2006 by a man who had had her 3 years. She was scanned but no call was made to check the chip. She was adopted and a change of ownership form sent to AVID. Although her record was marked as missing since 2003 they neither contacted me to say Sophie had been found or contacted Dogs Trust to tell them Sophie was listed as a missing dog.
I have told Giles how much I appreciate his honesty. That I would now like to find out more about Sophie and her new owners and that I would like them to facilitate a meeting for me and Sophie. I would also like more information on the person who handed her in.
I am not a vengeful person and I have a very forgiving heart but this has tested me to the extreme. I am elated that Sophie was handed in to a rescue as reputable as Dogs Trust and who would have ensured a good home was found for her but am devastated that through a catalogue of errors I was not reunited with my girl back in 2006.
I will want assurances that this cannot be allowed to happen again and that no other owner is put through this pain and the grief I have felt for so many years.
Many, many animals have gone on to a wonderful new life because of Sophie and there is every chance that FOARCT would not exist if she had not became a 'lost dog' but it has been a very high price to pay.
I am writing this to both update all my friends and the supporters who are the reason FOARCT is able to continue its work but also to ensure that anyone who has had a missing pet does not rely on the chip company getting in touch. You need to ring them over and over again. I put my faith in a system that has betrayed me and I will have to learn to live with that.
regards
Eileen

It's great to show that dogs can be found after such a long time and I'm sure that Sazzy and Ruars will be reunited soon.
The only thing is, that Ruars is not chipped, so I don't think there is much point in Sazzy herself keeping in touch with the chip company, though it is a valuable point for others who's chipped pets are missing0
