Your boss is never a friend surely you have never hung out with your MD?
We weren't even allowed to call some people by their 1st names so I don't think nob head would go down too well0 -

If you think it's abuse and bullying, then it's a good job our paths don't cross, as you live in a politically correct and seemingly boring world that I don't visit.
I disagree. In the real world people don't use such words to anyone far less at work. It's not about fun it's about being appropriate.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Indeed. Respect and boundaries, this illustrates what happens when they become eroded.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -

very true,
Back on topic, maybe the OP needs to find another job where the culture isnt calling each other names like knob head, its not an environment id like to be in, i find work is more enjoyable if you can have a laugh although when at work 1 should do the job he is paid for. I enjoy my current job purely because everyone or mostly everyone is helpful and theres always someone laughing where as my last job there was alot of shouting ( or acting like little children ) going between 2 or 3 grown ups(our manager and a colleague who was old enough to know better) which wasnt needed.0 -

The boss is usually my manager and we normally form a friendship through working together. This goes back to my earlier post as well; if you're going to spend 8 hours a day with people how can you not become friends? 40 hours a week for years on end and people don't expect you to make friends at work? that's why I could never work in a place where there wasn't a friendly atmosphere and banter.0 -

I'm friends with my boss. Have worked for him for 10 years and he's the best boss ever. We've been to dinner, with our respective partners, and I've even collected him from the dentists after a general anaesthetic and taken him home. We have a laugh and yes, there is banter, but he would never do anything as disrespectful as calling me a nob head!!DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

calling somebody a nob head isn't disrespectful. Words are not disrespectful; context and meaning is disrespectful.

that'd set the smoke alarm off which would result in the fire brigade being called... so it wouldn't go down well. You'd also probably breech the no alcohol on site rules.0
