  • £191.00 on glasses this afternoon !! Holy Moly !!

So, I stole from the emergency fund for the Gas and Electricity and from the F&F fund for the glasses. Basically, DD2 is nearly in adult glasses, hence the NHS ones ,as well as being tiny looked absolutely ridiculous on her. The only pair out of about 100 children's glasses that didn't look ridiculous were £86.00 after the NHS discount and with anti glare lenses . We did get a free pair of spare glasses though ,so that was something.

DD1, was a sweety and was so concerned about the prices of the adult glasses that she didn't really want to look and had to be coaxed into choosing some. She is happy to wear the glasses but not happy that we were paying for them. Anyway she chose eventually and after the NHS funding they were £110.00 with the anti glare but without a free pair. They both look gorgeous in their new purchases , although they are only for reading the board & watching TV. Off to collect those after school on Wednesday now ! :)

Mr Pinot despite leaving home at 5am is due to get home in about 15 mins. He has just informed me that he got a call this afternoon asking him to do a job in Liverpool starting at 5am tomorrow, so he is nipping home for dinner, then driving 2 hours the wrong direction to collect the Companies work truck and then heading up to Liverpool where he will hopefully arrive just before 5am, so he won't get any sleep. Im not happy about it, although he has spent years doing this sort of thing while we were treading water trying to pay everyone. We therefore will get paid for two jobs today and whereas tomorrow was his day off ( the first since the 17th Feb) he didn't want to turn down the work while it was begin offered. He will instead ,he has assured me take the day off on Saturday for DD1s birthday. I will see if I have any PropPlus lurking in the cupboard and make sure he buys lots of Red Bull for the journey.

Bring on the DFD in the distant Future and he won't feel the necessity to do this !

Right I have posted far too much drivel on here today, I'm going and won't log on again tonight !!

Can I hear a collective sigh of relief ?!! :rotfl:

  • All this talk of curries and rice pudding is making me feel hungry. Sounds yummy.

Sorry to hear you've had a bit of up and down week with money, but glad you're feeling calm about it. As you say, a few months ago this probably wouldn't have been the case. Just shows you have far you have come in such a short space of time. I'm having a similar problem re lack of work funds this month. We've had to put some of our personal money into the business

I remember when Mr F used to work stupid hours, on one occasion he didn't come from work for 3 days and he only worked 15 minutes away. His whole team worked something ridiculous like 60 hours without sleep. :eek:That was when we were in the UK. Not something he intends to repeat ever again. Let's hope it's not too long before Mr PG can stop working back to back.

  • Morning all,

Well after a night of little sleep (worrying about Mr Pinot staying awake on his drive through the night) I am back to crack on with my many lists and chores, all be it in slightly sleepy mode. Mr Pinot arrived in time for his 5am job, which finished at 9am and he is then driving back down again. I am hoping he will at some point decide to stop and grab an hours nap though.

My thoughts for the this morning are :-

Why on earth do my family insist on putting empty cereal boxes back in the cupboard !? Can anyone enlighten me on this ? I was happily thinking that although the cupboards are a little bare we did have 2 boxes of cereal ! But Oh No, 5 mins after DD1 should have been on the bus this morning ( now thats another story !!) she informed me there was nothing to breakfast ! Of course there is I exclaimed, but on further inspection both boxes were completely empty. Were they planning on saving them for me to make some Blue Peter like Creation with in my spare time ? Anyway after further rummaging I found five slices of bread, slightly green around the edges. I picked those bits off when they weren't looking and shoved them in the toaster, slapped on a bit of butter and she shovelled that in her mouth as she ran out of the door, not on the bus as she should have been ,but in Mums taxi which is so much warmer and less strenuous on her poor nearly 14 years old bones !!!:rotfl:

Happy Tuesday everyone, hope its a good one for you !

Ha ha, I wish I could press 'thanks' over and over again for this one! You gave your daughter mouldy bread!!! That is really extreme MSE Pinot, and I am so proud of you I could burst!

As for the empty cereal boxes in the cupboard, I think they all do that. Must be on the national curriculum or something..... The bad news is that they don't seem to grow out of it! Little Miss Happy still does it at 18, Master Happy at 20, and Mr Happy at 54. So don't hold your breath :D

Actually I must confess, :o I have mulled over this one today and I am now thinking that possibly it was me that put them back in the cupboards !!:rotfl: Not realising they were empty of course, but they are usually left on the worktop in the rush to get to school so I clear it all away, so a very red faced Mrs Pinot must apologise just a teeny weeny bit to my two Little Pinots .

And yes I did give them mouldy bread. No one even noticed !!!:o

Just goes to show what you will eat when you are hungry !!!:rotfl:

  • Well poor Mr Pinot is still driving back from Liverpool. He grabbed two hours sleep on the motorway but otherwise has been going strong since 5am on Monday morning. Something tells me that tonight he will be so totally and utterly exhausted that the snoring will reach a great Crescendo , shaking the Pinot Residence to its foundations ! In an effort to head it off at the pass I trotted off to the local chemist, we don't have that well known one here and I didn't have time to visit today. They had 3 snoring remedies ranging from £8 ish to £16 !!! What if they don't work and I paid all that money ? They hadn't heard of the one suggested by bonnington, so I have now settled on the very attractive strips that he needs to stick on his nose ! Wasn't sure whether to buy ones for a big or a regular sized nose !!:rotfl: Anyway I settled on big, not sure he will be impressed by that either.:p

Other than that, been a very busy day, working hard, filled up the last couple of remaining work free days for March. Got yesterdays letters off to the post office, filed and held off paying any bills. A little bit of money filtered in today, so I did make a very fleeting trip to A£da to stock up on cereal and juice. I have had a remittance advice saying more will be in tomorrow and then we can get back on track :D

I have now made a start on reclaiming the credit card charges on a Nat West card. So far the claim amounts to £797.00. I won't send it off yet though, as I am attempting to claim past 6 years with this one. They have sent me lists of charges up to 6 years ago, but I have found statements going back to 2001 and I am sure there are more where they came from. It made for interesting reading as, even as far back as that I had made notes and scribbles all over the statements of conversations with the bank manger concerning the card and why payment was late due to us not being paid etc etc. We ere also withdrawing cash on the card to rob Peter to pay Paul even going back that far. I may not get anywhere, but I'm going to give this one my best shot.:j

Other than that, dinner was Nigellas Pea Risotto with salad. It looks like horrible looking green gunge, but everyone loves it, so Im happy and don't care to much what it looks like. :)

Have a lovely evening everyone x

  • At least everyone can have some decent breakfast tomorrow. :rotfl:

Cereal and juice. Did you buy any more bread or do you have another mouldy loaf hidden somewhere? :)

The name of the strips is Snoreeze although Mr B sell their own brand for about £5 ish. If you find something which works and Mr P wants to use it, watch out for the 3 for 2 deals. Comes in handy. :D

I hope you have some cotton wool for your ears for tonight and I hope Mr P gets home safely.
I hope he is not off out early tomorrow, for the sake of his health and also for you as a family. You need time to be together. :)
