I only got a FB account so I could keep an eye (not spy) on DS1. I noticed a professional footballer wanted to be friends with him, he thought it was great!! When we looked at his page it all looked legitimate but would a professional footballer really want to be friends with my son.......I don't think so. Luckily my DS could see what we were getting at.

Just a very quick post! Not that you'll have time to read it.
You always seem to be so busy and rushing round like there's no tomorrow.
I was going to write like a blue something fly, but thought I had better not be so rude. :rotfl:

Thanks Kerri,
I have pots for the car tax but unfortunately they only started in dec and with both cars needing taxing in the space of two months there wasn't enough in them to cover it, but thankyou ! Give it a few months then they will have built up !LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

I think on this occasion it's me that's playing awkward rather than mbna ::rotfl:
That was actually a really scary Facebook story , and so lucky that you spotted it ! Poor dd1 has to tell us if anyone contacts her and explain to us how she knows them before she is allowed to add them. I feel bad for her sometimes as we are far stricter than the majority of her friends parents, but all credit to her she seems to accept it! Well........ Most of the time ! :rotfl:LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

Re calculation - I think the easiest way to do it is (I am a simple soul)
Amount outstanding now (divided) by amount outstanding at the start (times) 100 (divided) by 1 = %Amount still left to pay from original balance. So logical tells us we can take that number away from 100 to see what we have paid off rather than what we owe.
So Happy, for your unsecured debt, 69225 / 69579 X 100 / 1 =99.49% to pay or 0.51 paid off.
Hope that helps. Please don't be embarrassed if anyone can't work it out, we will just find another way to explain so please shout up. We are stronger together and all that
Try not to be disheartened by 0.51%. when was the last time you saw a reduction rather than an increase. It will gather momentum but will feel slow at the start. My debt went up by 2.5% at the stage you are at Happy, 21 months in I am now at 40%. I try to focus on celebrating minigoals as this keeps me going. Ever the hopeful one I set up a simple excel spreadsheet (I can't really do formulae just basic add up sum and didn't even know how to do that at the start so did it manually). What's really great is that I predicted creditor balance for each month upto the end of the DMP. I alter as neccesary each month and chip away at the balance.

Then take your new total and divide by the answer above, so for me -
88538.73 / 967.96 = 91.45 that is my percentage.
I then take that percentage above away from 100 and that will give you the percentage you have paid off - So for me its 8.55% or thereaboutsdebtfreewannabe321 wrote: »how much you have paid off divided by the amount you started with times 100........so i worked yours out to be 0.27 %
And pinot.......i think yours would be 8.53% does that sound right?>!Hopelessly_Hopeful wrote: »Amount outstanding now (divided) by amount outstanding at the start (times) 100 (divided) by 1 = %Amount still left to pay from original balance. Thank you all so much for your replies, I can do it now. It's actually quite easy once you know how, I think I'd got myself confused.
And I am definitely not disappointed with my 0.51%. For years my debts have gone UP every month by several %, so in 'real terms' as the politicians say, my achievement since starting this is probably nearer to 5%. Anyway Pinot, sorry for hi-jacking your diary with my mathematical dumbness!
And yes, I agree completely about the Facebook thing. It's a wonderful resource, used sensibly. Some of the Radio One DJs (Fern Cotton for one) are currently doing a profile-raising exercise on Facebook security called ShareTakeCare with a game for youngsters to play. It's here -
