Oh my dear Mrs PG, how awful, this is bullying and to use such a public way to do it is awful. I'm not surprised you need the wine. Do you know the girl's parents? If so, perhaps it should be mentioned to them as she is so clearly out of order it is unreal.
Is there any way of changing DDs number?

Ahh Mrs PG when I was in London the girls there would call each other B1tch all the time seemingly meaning it was a friendly word to use?!?!?! Me however, well I didn't like it snd took great offence. Somewhere along the lines it's been deemed appropriate to call women amongst themselves along with the Jeremy Hunt word which was just rude really. I think it stems from American movies where the gangster calls his girlfriend his b!tch and stuff like that, but not being "down with the kids" I'm not 100% sure.

No I dont know the parents. I will keep an eye on it. It could have been totally innocent but having not had much to do with this girl for a long time now, to see that out of the blue, seemingly just for fun , but as you say publicly wasnt good.
I am calmer this morning. I wouldnt usually have even written about it, but I was really the final straw last night and it seemed easier to write it all down .

Kerri you have a very valid point. Thankyou ! Some of the girls do call each other those sort of names, thankfully not mine. DD gets very offended, but I could see the panic on her face that she thought she was in for a tough time when she read the message., especially as this girl is linked closely to someone who has already given her alot of trouble and frightened her last year.
I do think that you could be right, but it was still very aggressive. I think I am getting old, I just don't get it. DD did tell me the other day that when she writes something funny, she cant put an exclamation mark on the end of it anymore if she is tweeting or on facebook. When I questioned why she said that apparently a question mark is deemed as being aggressive, not humorous. Everything I learnt at school has been turned on its head then !
I am hoping the day goes well for her as she is back at school today and this is the end of it. Thanks Kerri xx

Hey..it's important you did write about it. It's unacceptable and tbh If it were my DD and given the staff at her school I would be contacting them. They have excluded kids for remarks made on FB for example. Courtesy, manners and zero tolerance of any bullying are watchwords at her school.
The point for me is that it scared DD. that's the point. It's unacceptable to write, especially, publically in this way. twitter is a public forum... It's the same as shouting it in the pub or street..and that would be termed assault. What's the difference?
Anyway glad it seems settled now...but don't minimise it ( especially to us or her!;)) Girls calling each other b.tch or the JH word needs to be seen in the way it is..self demeaning. kerri is right.
Anyway off my soapbox now...lots of love and hugs to you all

I am old. I don't understand how offensive language has somehow become almost everyday words. The words still hurt yet some people don't even know they are using them.
Don't let them bully your daughter, whether you have one glass of wine or ten, your reactions are sound.
It is openly acknowledged that a massive amount of bullying goes on via the social media sites, but they are giants in communication and there seems no way of monitoring it. The only answer, of course, it not to use them. But they are a life-blood to youngsters and they probably won't here of unsubscribing.
Brizzle gives good advice about contacting the school, do you know your school's stance on cyber-bullying?Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
