:rotfl:Thank you! But I think you'd find me in the boiler, not on the barbeque. I might be a bit tough these days. Meant to say on your diary, well done for ignoring H0bbs. I delete their emails, haven't got round to unsubscribing yet though...:o

  • You are both right. Its just totally unacceptable.

The schools stance on cyberbullying in my opinion is pretty rubbish.

We have had issues in the past, infact I have a whole file full of varying messages sent to her. Not making her out to be the victim here, but she does attract a certain amount of jealousy, but on the back of that she stands for no nonsense either . Shes far tougher than I ever was and will quite happily stand her ground.

We could contact the school, we have in the past. The child in question gets called in, they are spoken to, DD gets called in, the child apologises. They leave the room, the child tells everyone that DD has told her mum and mum has called the school and that in turn causes even more grief ! Its a no win situation really. Or the school says it happened out of school, we could involve the police they say or they offer to give us the parents number so we can speak to them. Had the message not been deleted last night I would have spoken to the parents, apparently they live just around the corner. Actually I would have sent Mr PG ! I will keep a close eye on it. I am hoping with the new head the school will review its anti bullying procedures. I live in hope.

It is disgusting the language the children use these days and the way in which they speak to one another. Obviously its unacceptable to us and thankfully unacceptable to the girls , therefore they don't speak to their friends in the same way. Thank goodness ! Mr PG has told DD's friends off for swearing quite openly in front of him !

As far as not using social networking. Its a tough one. DD uses hers less than most, but still too much for my liking. I would prefer her not to have it but its the way of the world now. I think people my age are just as bad with their usage and need to document when they are off to the loo for example !! Her Accounts are monitored, I have all of the passwords. I check her accounts occasionally not because I don't want her to have any privacy ( that came up on one occasion !) but for safeties sake. Thankfully she is very open hence why she told me what was going on last night. I do check her accounts if she is unusually quiet or withdrawn though and I cant get to the bottom of whats wrong. Nine times out of ten I can discover it through social networking ! DD2 has no Accounts , far too young in my opinion but the only child in her tutor without Facebook, Twitter, Ask.fm and Intsagram ! Wicked parents that we are.

So there we go, today is another day :D

What would I do without you ? Isn't it funny how much we value opinions of people we have never met !!

Oh and Mrs B, I can vouch for that. Piq is most definitely NOT old . You all talk a lot of sense !

That is emotional terrorism against DD1 from a clearly insecure and unstable classmate.

As I don't have any children I don't know what to suggest here so I will let others step in with advice buy by God that is awful

Hi PG and other lovely friends

I wouldn't suggest that she avoids social networking ..I currently love twitter btw.. But I do think the off button needs to be used occasionally.. And just withdrawing from situations that look like they may kick off.. ( bet Sally Bercow wishes she had done that for example) ..you need an antennae for that sort of thing..which to be fair to your DD, largely comes from experience!

I would push the school. As you may remember, my DDs school is one that traditionally struggles with getting to floor targets etc..BUT what they are very good at is pastoral care, social cohesion etc. and more schools should realise that they are helping to create well rounded individuals as well as achieving challenging exam targets. Ad in fact they know that one leads to another..I am sure there is no coincidence that their results are climbing as the ethos at school becomes more positive.

I would never be told that cos it happened outside school it's not their business. Who makes a division between what goes on inside and outside the school gates?? Shocking.

Equally they never name the child who makes the bullying complaint..to avoid chance of repercussions. Christ this makes me mad its all such elementary stuff

Make sure the new head knows what you think. Sounds like a change of management is well overdue.

    Have a great day PG

Piq...BBQ, boiler...?? No way..we are all in the prime of our womaniness..or however beautifully the poster (Dot? granny?) termed it on your diary some time ago!

I am pleased about H@bbs..even though last horrendous incident was just less than 3 months ago so hardly that impressive. BUT dearest Piq..I did hit the unsubscribe button for them and Ms LKB...I can't say I have noticed..so I do recommend it!!

I did also avoid buying a new bikini in Aus...hard but I just walked out of the surf shop. Hardly noticed it when I got back to GB to be honest!! :rotfl: I can't imagine why!

Have a good day folks..off to get dressed now..the bathroom cabinet won't clear or even clean itself!:rotfl:

  • I am with you on the social networking. My DD2 is not on there yet, she is not mature enough to handle other peoples immaturity. Shes not mature enough to handle her own most of the time and rightly so.

Other kids will always try and bully, its a power thing. They do this and try and find some angle over another child and both my kids have been affected by this.

The breakthrough we had was when DD1 just didnt care anymore. DD2 has had the same treatment and her bullying phase lasted a very short time.

I just made sure we picked the other child apart privately. (some call this b1thing but it works) and didnt share apart from to write it down.

It has worked for my girls, why try and analyse why someone thinks badly of you when you can analyse their many faults and feel sorry for them for being so wrong and quite frankly, thick.

Hope the school helps, they have children there who need some counselling, and no, this isnt the victim, its the protagonist. I am sure you are way too nice to call a child even in private but its for the greater good.

    Some kids are rotten!

  • Just got home...finally.

All fine here, nothing to report, no further instances with DD1 thankfully.

I am exhausted ,so wont respond to you all tonight, but as usual thanks again, its wonderful to have your insight ! Its always good to see things from another point of view. The girl seems to think she was being funny, we thought differently . DD1 is fine other than feeling ill again. Feels sick today but been in school. :(

I have car trouble :( Not what I need right now !

No money forthcoming. Had an email as follows :-

" I know this payment will no be as quick as you would prefer but if I can explain, we ourselves often have to wait between 6 and 8 weeks (and sometimes many months longer) for clients to settle with us, even though we send our invoices as soon as the job is finished. For example, of the three jobs covered by your two recent invoices, only one client has paid so far and the others have told us that their payment runs only take place at the end of the month, so we should get paid at the end of February.

******* is quite a small company and unfortunately we don’t have the luxury of a large cash flow to cope with all the seasonal ups and downs in our business. For this reason we sometimes have little option but to rely on the goodwill of freelancers and other suppliers that work for us. However, we do always pay, maybe not always on time but usually no more than a couple of weeks late.

Please accept my apologies for the delay with your payments and thank you for your patience, we do appreciate it."

We have worked for them for 14 years, we knew them when they started the Company. We watched them move premises four times, open offices in Cyprus, Israel, Dubai and New York !!! We probably know more about their business than the bod who sent the above email who has only worked there for a year ! The thing is we are only a small company, we don't have the luxury of a large cashflow either !! Infact we dont have any Cashflow just now !!

    What to do next !

I know.....pour a glass of wine and pretend this isnt happening !

Oh, I forgot to wish you all a Happy Valentines....... I hope you have all been suitably spoilt. Mr PG isnt here tonight...that's why I forgot ! :o
