I'm sorry you're having such a tough time. Money worries are very wearing and it sometimes feels like a brick tied around your neck. As kerri says you are £20k better off than you were, this is no mean achievement. Hiding from it and us probably won't help. All of us have found talking through the problem on our diaries gives us a clearer perspective and sometimes one of us has a really good idea or suggestion.
A while ago you were talking about going back into your previous career, maybe now is the time. It's a good idea to get your cv done even if all it does is to give you a realisation of your own worth.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Morning,
Thankyou , I miss you all too and I know hiding isnt good. Its not in my nature to be grumpy and I was very grumpy, stressed out and worried so I hid to get my head in gear. I still worrying but need to think positive. The manic grin had slipped, but I will plaster in back on from this morning and get my ar*e in gear.
You are right 20K in a year is no mean feat and we are so much better off. I found an old notebook , it was 6 years old. In it I had listed all of the debts, each credit card name , each credit limit and most importantly the balance on it. Im sure it wont be a surprise to tell you all that the figures 6 years down the line when we had the LBM were exactly , give or take the odd few hundred pound the same . We had spent six years battling with the interest to find we were in the same position. This is the best thing I have ever done, but we arein it for the Long Haul , our DFD is far to scary to even contemplate unless I can have another year like last which isnt reality as I ahve nothing more to try and claim back I dont think and we have the Tax Bill to tackle.Thats where I get so worried, the never ending length of time we will be fighting this added to the length of time we spent battling before the LBM. I swear if I hadn't read Gargraves diary I dont know where on earth we would be now. I dread to think to be honest. I have alot to thank her for on the other side of the world !
Anyway I will shut up now, I am feeling a bit brighter I think today and need to get back on track.
NL I was in the Travel Industry previously. Although I stepped away from it after our business had been running for a year or so, in a round about way I have still been involved partially , but its been 13 years since I actually officially worked in the trade. I called five recruitment agencies yesterday who bascially laughed down the phone at me . Didnt do wonders for my confidence ( how you do this Piq day after day and month after month , I will never know) . They said I had no chance whatsoever of finding a job in the industry. I have been out of it far too long and employers consider a two year gap unemployable. Its crazy. I have seen a few things advertised via recruitment agencies. I know I could do them standing on my head and upside down with my eyes shut. I would need to take a couple of refresher courses on a few things but thats fine and easy to arrange. Sadly they didnt even want the CV, so it was and is, back to the drawing board there. I did see a vacancy yesterday which was perfect, fitted around the business ish should it pick up and the girls . I have no idea who the job is with so I cant approach them directly.
Some good ish news though is that the mettings Mr PG had yesterday went well. They have offered us work for 2014 !! We just need to get through 2013 first ! They have said they are expecting to be able to use us from about the end of March, we arent sure how much work they can give us and things generally should pick up about then anyway although we are expecting a slow year. We had a call yesterday for three days work in April. Its January and February that are worrying me at the moment. DD1s birthday is right at the beginning of March therefore I buy her pressies in February and I know its silly in the grand scheme of things to be worrying about her birthday but I am and thats that really !!
So I wont hide again, thankyou all for your support.
Anyone up for a virtual Friday night cocktail tonight !! I think we all need one ! xxLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

Oooh now Mara I think you have hit on a lovely idea there. I will make the hot chocs, with a lovely shot of brandy in, marshmallows and cream and maybe even a flake to top it off. That should warm us all up nicely !
The snow is heading our way, should be here this afternoon !LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

Pinot - Have you got yourself on linkedIN and started to look for old colleagues. I'm sure they will have moved on, but you are far more likely to get opportunities from people you worked with/for than agents who are 'wet behind the ears'. I did this a few months ago and picked up colleagues from 20 years ago to the present day. And for me, some of them have become directors of internet travel companies ... OK, I'm not looking for a job directly at present, but the recommendations people gave me have improved my confidence no end.

Hey Northern Las and welcome ! You know the rules now though, no more lurking !
We are on Linked In with our business, I must admit I hadnt even considered it for myself. Must admit my confidence is shot to pieces. I would be terrified walking into an interview, I am even embarrassed trying to sell myself on my CV. Crazy isnt it especially when I know what I can do !
Funny you should mention the "wet beind the ears" I swear the recruitment consultants yesterday had no idea, but after 5 / 6 people told me the same thing , I thought that they must be right.
I still organise travel itineraries for various events now in the line of business we are in, but once the planning is done it is handed over to a Business Travel agency to make the finalised bookings. They just book whats on my piece of paper, so in a way I have never really left ! Sadly the agencies yesterday didnt seem to understand that though . Ho Hum ! xxLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !
