  • Good lass and if its any comfort my daughter is constantly told about money.

As for going shopping, she is given pocket money and is not allowed to take over 20 pounds shopping at any one time if shes buying something pricey one of us needs to be with her to get her a good deal or look online to keep costs down and then she has more to spend lol. Im a constant whinge about it but one day it might sink in!

Im sure they will love it and every year on their anniversary when they wipe their bots they will think of you. xx
    Trying to shift that debt!
  • I agree with you about not giving kids £200 'pocket money' to spend willy nilly. Please don't feel bad regarding your DD and money, she will thank you in the long run.

Some of my DS1s friends have been given cars (and insurance paid for) for the 17th birthdays, our DS has worked part-time whilst at college and saved for his own car and insurance. He is currently looking for a car but has just failed his test this morning so he's not a happy bunny at the moment.:(

Hope the back pain eases soon. xx

  • My son is 13 so a little younger but i would never give him £200 just to go blow! I have to say though, when i was younger i was one of those girls that was given money just for the day to get out of my parent's hair and i think that is why i refuse to do it to my kids. I never felt anymore loved than kids that weren't given it and so i don't agree with passing that on to my kids (hmmmmmmm not that i could afford £2 atm never mind £200 haha)

But i constantly am saying to him 'you're older than the little ones you should understand better', 'we have no money' so 'stop asking.' i feel awful after as he is only a child still but i think he's better off learning now rather than later. He was given a £25 gift voucher end of term for good school report (from the school not me!) and he had wanted a hard drive for ages so he spent ages on amazon looking for one and getting one within budget rather than asking me to top him up. I was very happy :) until i went to put it through and realised the P&P wasn't free haha! he'd spent so long looking though that i paid it for him, and you know what he noticed on the invoice that went to his email account and went and found me £4 change to cover it. SO the harsh route is working :p and i say carry it on! perhaps the next generation won't be so frittery as us lot! (if that is even a word )

Thankyou Piq, and you are right, she really is great, but just a bit daft at times. Everywhere we go people tell us how lovely she is and we are both so proud of her. Think her timing just stunk a bit to be honest ! I was feeling rubbish, worrying about Mr Pinots working hours as you all know and as usual payment of our invoices have slowed right down again, so I felt like she was wasting our money. Everything is also so much worse when you are tired isnt it ?!!

    Thankyou ! :D

Things are always bigger when you're tired and teenagers can be self-centred. I read some report on it a while ago, it's something to do with hormones and growing.

Still, as long as everything's okay again, no harm done.

I don't know that I want to be Great Aunt Piq, I might retire from your diary....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Morning All !!!

Well the loo roll was duly deposited in the Newlyweds bathroom yesterday along with a bunch of flowers, (they werent in the bathroom they were on the dining table!!) . We had a text late night last to confirm their arrival home, and thank us for the flowers, no mention of the loo roll though !! Maybe they hadn't got as far as the toilet at that point !!

Thanks for your thougths on teenagers on general, DFW your DS sounds a total sweetie. I have just discovered this morning hat DD1s antics as, is usual most months possibly hormonally related. was good to heart hat we all feel that giving your child £100 or £200 pocket money to hit the shops with his madly overthe top. Even if circumstances werent as they were I still wouldnt do it ! Its a real help though to hear other peoples opinions especially those with children of a similar age or those who have been there and done it !!

DD1 sang last night for the parents at the school, went down a treat apparently although I wasnt able to go as I needed tog et DD2 to her rehearsals. They were both shattered byt the tiem they got home.

Today I have re shcedule my cancelled app from yesterday and am going to get back into full getting my bum in gear mode and crack on !!

Oh and Great Auntie Piq, please dont retire from my diary, you would be sadly missed !!! :(

Back later with more news I'm sure and also to catch up on your diaries xx

Me neither !! What are we doing wrong ??!!!! I need to get to the Post Office as well. I am quite pleased with myself, I have got back into the swing of the ebay thingy. The depleted ebay pot now has £60 in it and I think 11 other items currently are for sale. Also have £35.00 being paid on Saturday when a larger item is collected. I have told Mr Pinot , he is not allowed to buy anything on ebay using the Ebay Pot and I will do the same ,as I tend to treat the girls to bits with that money, but our garden furniture has completely fallen apart, so I have a new plan which is to sell enough to buy new garden furniture.

Must dash have an 11am meeting .......................................
