It wouldn't guarantee that's not the problem, it's already intermittent, and as previously mentioned, STOP TOUCHING THE TAPS!!!!

All advice given by thekid is in good faith but remember these important facts:
    1. I'm lucky enough to live in Scotland(Scots Law may apply)...
    2. My motto is "What's the worst that can happen" you've seen the kids in the Comic Relief clips, is it to that scale? Then get a grip!
    3. It's only money...no really(see #2)
    4. I'm only a plumber...

Please do not use the bath until the above has been carried out.

I know absolutely nothing about plumbing, electricity or cross bonding. I don't even know how I stumbled across this thread, but it's FANTASTIC! Sod Corrie, I can't wait to find out what happens in the next installment of the gripping saga that is, "Wanty and the electrifying bath!":rotfl:

(but as someone who knows absolutely nothing, stop touching the bath Wanty)

Would the story not be more fun if I tried it again? :D Its like an addiction, I want to touch it :D

Actually I don't, but OH was kindly using me for experimentation, mking me use socks, without socks, on a diff floor board. :rotfl: I think the other bloke was right, he does have it in for me

Seeing as the amount of work being done, I can do a series, I am sure they will bodge something else up before its done. :rotfl:

    yeah, get a spark.

also Bob, you aren't right mate, baths need bonding, always have. the taps often do not actually touch the bath itself anywhere(top hat spacers/washers etc. breaking contact.)

Like I said in my earlier post there is lots of confusion over what does and does not require bonding.Personally I would bond a bath if it was fed by metal pipes.

Take a look at this post- http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/forum1/viewtopic.php?t=1322

Then read the post by ultimatehandyman and particularly number 3-

    3. Metal baths not connected
    to a metal building structure
    do not require
    supplementary bonding if all
    metal pipes connected to
    them has been bonded.

So he says that the bath does not need bonding if the metal pipes feeding the taps are bonded !

Yet in the latest on site guide it says that the bath does need bonding?

Now check the post by Ban-all-sheds

click on the last link, the one for the pdf file about bonding plastic pipes and this says-

    3. Metal baths not connected
    to a metal building structure
    do not require
    supplementary bonding if all
    metal pipes connected to
    them has been bonded.

Ok, this could be an old document, but if it is then why has it not been updated and why is it still available on the IEE website??????

So Bob was not incorrect at all, much of the information out there is left open to interpretation and there are often conflicting pieces of advice as pointed out above.

It's occured to me that no one has thought about the earthing system of the house, also has the fuseboard got an RCD or Earth Leakage device( if one of these was present then a live to earth fault or neutral to earth fault would trip these out immediately), a simple Insulation resistance test between live and the bath should clarify a fault or faultless condition.
Get it Sorted, as amusing as this thread is becoming i fear someone with less tolerance to electrical current could end up hurt or even dead.
Yes the problem is THAT SERIOUS.

I too am gripped by the saga!
I would have thought tho that your council would be terrified of being sued for negligence. Get it in writing to them asap and follow it up with multiple phone calls.
I vaguely remember years ago there was some sort of clause that if your landlord didn't sort issues out within X amount of time, you could call in your own contractor and send the bill to the landlord. I don't know if this is the case still, or if its the case if the council is your landlord but might be worth a call to citizens advice if the council don;t sort it urgently.

Is it not weird that its just me getting the shocks now though?

I mean it is too much of a coincidence that it is only happening with the bath, but still, its only me getting the shocks
No your OH may be wearing trainers or similar footware which will be insulated compared with you and what you're wearing.

Have you given them grief yet Wanty? You indicated you were going to have words with them earlier, we all want an up date.
