  • Vax2002, is this the best that you have to do with your time? Why don't you go off and find a forum somewhere where your pointless comments are appreciated, something like www. Twatsrus.com

Think the person needing to goto twatsrus.com is not Vax2002
  • Yep, they've done it again! I got taken for £60 gumtree ad for a treadmill. Exactly same story as all the other posts, i'm usually really careful but just didn't expect this to be bogus, why doesn't gumtree vet the ads more carefully, especially anyone using Alexa as point of contact. This was first time i used gumtree and never will again.:( So, don't get hooked by Alexa Brown, it's some outfit making a lot of money out of people trying to save a few bob, which is malicious and nasty, they don't know our circumstances and don't care. May they rot in hell.
  • I can't post links as I am newish - but it is a John Lewis Nantes Sofa Bed in chocolate leather.

Selling an identical listing to one that was sold on ebay last week

I queried with the ebay seller who notified gumtree last week and the gumtreead was taken down, but not before I had responded to it with my phone number.
Alexa Brown sent me "her" email address and I googled it and it came up with this forum discussion.

Even though gumtree took the ad off, it's still back on! I have notified gumtree myself.
I wish the sofa was for sale, I really like it:(
  • I have again emailed her about the fridge freezer from a different email address and phone number. Same thing text with email address, only it was nora75palmer@gmail.com. Exactly the same layout everything. PLease be aware whoever it is, is changing there names now. Im going to try it a third time to see if it is still the same. The more people that find this post the more people will know what is going on and something can be done about it (hopefully).

    thanks

hi, just a quick update. I have spoken to my local police (west midlands). They have told me that gumtree should repay me the money, although i cant see this happening. I have to contact the police again once i have heard off gumtree. They also advised me to contact trading standards in regards to gumtree. I would advise everyone who has actually paid her and been scammed to follow the same route. My local police hadn't heard off this scam before. I was also advised to put a complaint into ukash in regards to anybody being able to cash in the voucher. In my opinion if you havn't got the voucher in your possesion then you shouldn't be able to cash it in.

I will keep this post updated as i hear more info.

    Thanks

Thanks let us know - I've reported it to all the same places but they have said there's no way to get the money back :(

It would be worthwhile contacting UKash and complaining. They could easily set up a few sting operations and figure out where this person is retrieving their payments (presumably in a few shops somewhere).

In the meantime the best thing you can do is to post warnings on as many forums as possible. Also search often for "ukash scam" on Google so that becomes a suggested search. Also make a formal complaint to the FSA as they regulate Ukash.

The more that Ukash becomes associated with internet scammers, the more likely they are to devote resources to getting rid of the scammers. At the moment they are doing nothing as they are profiting from the transactions. If it affects their reputation (and thus profits) then they'll start doing something.

I think Gumtree don't care - they've had scammers for many years. I avoid the site altogether for that reason.
