Got caught out with this scam today, exactly the same exchange of mails (to the letter). Luckily I googled 'UKASH'prior to purchasing the voucher. Now reported to Gumtree.
Be warned if buying a BOSE Companion 3 system from Alexa in Somerset0 -
Wow, thanks guys.
I got emails word for word as above from "Alexa Brown". The funny thing is that I was reading one "her" emails on my android phone, and opened her google plus profile via an app - i then mistakenly started a hangout with her by clicking a wrong link (the hangout came to nothing). so convincing was the scam, that i sent an email saying sorry for my hangout request(!)
Anyway (that's an aside) I sent her my address last night, but couldn't help smelling a rat in the whole thing, and so googled "gumtree scams alexa" this morning and this is the first result.
Having looked at the google plus profile in more detail, I realise that it very shoddily put together.
Needless to say, at least I know what to expect now but rest assured I'll be reporting this, and that I won't be sending any more information!
Oh, and I was trying to buy a Sulinda SP10 digital piano in Gloucester.
And another aside - it was for my fiancee's birthday on the 16th of June. After my 3 day debarcle with Alexa, I now only have two days to find a gift!
As another poster said, the old saying is right: "if it seems to good to be true, it probably is"
Thanks one and all, and sorry to those who've already been stung.0 -

N i wanted 2 go n bay ,but i so u people. Thanks
I can't blive how people can b so bad0 -
Weirdly, her profile does look almost genuine:
I'm engaged in an email conversation right now. Here's her pitch (even though I said that I was in the same town and could collect):
"Unfortunately I got called into the office so very busy till next week. Back at work we have some shipments for large items with parcelforce all week long. Just thought it would save you time and hassle if I'll send it along with them free of charge company benefits .
I asked around and it seems you can pay cash upon delivery/inspection. It's quite simple since they're able to wait for you to check it out, if not as described they can just void the shipment.
If that's alright with you I'll need a name, address, contact number and time frame when someone's home, can book a specific time slot if it helps.
Working long hours so If you want to pop in and pick it up you'll just have to wait till next week when hopefully I'll get my head around .
Let me know either way.
Alexa."
So - anyone actually sent money? Do you know a bank account that we can hand to the police regarding this?0 -
Hi all.
I stupidly fell for this scam over the weekend. Her name supposedly is Alexa Edwards this time. Was selling a baby jogger (double buggy) on Gumtree and said she was in Bedfordshire.
Has exactly the same emails and messages and me being stupid compleatly fell for it. Got the email from "parcel force" asking to buy a UKASH voucher for £100. Had never even heard of it before but assumed all legit and safe. Probably coz I'm
8 months pregnant and not thinking straight!!
Anyways sent the voucher code received a conformation email saying voucher will be validated in 24 hours.. Then heard no more. Only yesterday I was curious to know what the service offered by parcel force was and I googled parcel force and UKASH and this thread was the first thing that came up. Once I read and saw the exact same emails and name I knew it was a scam. My heart sank. I feel totally gutted and stupid for falling for it and never even thought twice. Idiot or what!!
Anyways.. I'm now out of pocket and without a double buggy for my new baby and toddler. It's put me off ever buying anything on the net again.
Gulable pregnant woman!! :-(0 -

Almost fell for it but couldn't see Parcel Force paying money back!

I think we may have dealt with the same person! Under the alias, Alexa Brown, I was almost tricked into giving away £30 for, what I presume to be non-existent dumbells. Luckily, I noticed the account which "parcelforce" was using is gmail, googled it and found this thread, so I'm thankful!0 -
Guys - had contact and response from alexa75brown@gmail.com
Oakley Juliet are out of production (was $350 when new) and she was selling them for £60 albeit with a scratch.
I received the same email re: work commitments and sending cash on delivery via Parcelforce.
The email that made me suspect something was the "Parcelforce" one. Not only was it a strange email address: From:royal.mail.invoice.server@gmail.com on behalf of Parcelforce Worldwide (Royal-Mail-Group@consultant.com)
But the email body instructions used bullet points NOT in sequential order:
Ships to: Simon Roth, my work address, XXX XXX

Have notified Gumtree0 -
Just very nearly got caught with this scam. On Gumtree the lovely Alexa is selling a kayak. So beware people its quite a sophisticated softly softly scam and I nearly fell for.0
-
Just to warn people Alexa is also selling a Lego Millenium Falcon Collectors edition 10179 for a cool £670 on gumtree. We had the same emails as earlier, word for word. Thought it was a bit odd so googled her email address alexa75brown@gmail.com and found this thread. I hope no one else has sent her that much money. I've reported the ad to gumtree as it's still live. Oh and this time it's in London Mayfair!0
