  • Hi,

    NEW SCAM
Wardrobe and matching chest of drawers
    £80 West Sussex
    kate75porter@gmail.com

I have been almost caught in this scam. I have found this kind of scam in different forums online. It's the same scam, just changing the names:

Please review all these emails: (history from bottom to top)

    - I've received a copy of the payment instructions. They do indeed take payments in cash but not directly because drivers apparently aren't allowed to receive cash in hand. It seems you'll have to use cash or debit/credit card to buy an voucher from a local shop/supermarket or newsagent that has the PAYPOINT sign. You'll need to scan the voucher or take a close-up picture using your mobile phone and reply with it to the email from parcelforce. Also keep the voucher/s receipt for the driver who will verify it, nothing simpler :)

Here paypoint you can find the nearest shop and ask for UKASH voucher. From what I understand the shopkeeper will add 20% VAT if you pay an invoice therefore if you'd buy the voucher for poker or betting website you won't pay the VAT.

    Hope this helps,
    Kate.

Great, I've just finished filling out the forms online and scheduled the delivery for Friday pm, 5-6pm ( at your end). The courier company will also handle the payment. If you'll accept and sign for the parcel the driver will then leave you a receipt and bac's me afterwards. They sent out an email notification on how to proceed. Did you received it ? Check your spam or junk folder as well, maybe it got caught in there.

Let me know if you have any queries, I'll be glad to help out!
    Kate

Of course, nothing goes according to plan :( Unfortunately I've just got called into the office so very busy till next week, hectic lifestyle. However, back at work we have some shipments for large items with parcelforce all week long. Just thought it would save you time and hassle if I'll send it along with them free of charge hihi company benefits :) .

I asked around and it seems you can pay cash upon delivery/inspection. It's quite simple since they're able to wait for you to check it out, if not as described they can just void the shipment with no extra charge.

If that's alright with you I'll need a name, address, contact number and also date&time suitable for the delivery.
Second option - if you want to pop in and collect you'll have to wait till next week or so when hopefully I'll get my head around.
Let me know either way. No need to worry If my reply is delayed since I'm just having fun working long hours ... or not :))

    Hi ,
Don't know if it's been long since you've emailed, I've been out so couldn't follow up on my text message. Can't promise anything but visiting my mum shortly, wouldn't mind making a drop off :)

If you'll send me your postcode I can check out on my satnav the distance to yours.

Reasonable price and accurate description, it's worth the money, no bad surprises. I won't go any lower.
Can be reached on (0797)--342--5052 low signal strength area :( but check emails regularly.
    Ta,
    Kate.
P.S. Will let you know before heading out, cash only please.
  • Hi all,

I was very very nearly just scammed by kate75porter@gmail.com too and received exactly the same emails as the person above.
This was for ad number 1002373541 for an iCandy peach blossom travel set.
I was about to go out and get the ukash voucher to pay for this item tomorrow and thought I'd google parcelforce using ukash and got a heap of forums up about the scam.

Thank you all for posting as you've all just saved me from being scammed out of £400! I've reported this to gumtree so I'm hoping to add is removed ASAP so nobody else falls victim to this scammer.
  • I've just reported all those email addresses to Gmail.
I can't believe they're still letting these vermin use their email server.
    Grrrr
  • Hi all,
Received same email from kate75porter@gmail.com for a dfs corner settee on gumtree and a confirmation email from parcelforce. Ad ref is 1002609945. Thankfully I found this thread of messages or I'll be losing £270 by now. Should I be worried that she has my contact details and address?
  • I was almost scammed today by an add for a Stokke xplory baby stroller on Gumtree. The add seemed genuine until I had the request for Ukash payment from parcel force at which point I called them an they verified it is infact a scam. The person in question called themselves Kate porter and emailed from kate75porter@gmail.com.

This is a very personal an convincing scam. I am not happy this slimeball has my bame addrsss and telephone number! Lickily they do not have my cash!

Has it been reported to the police. If so does anyone have an email address or telephone number I can contact them on as this person is a disgrace and deserves to be brought to justice.

    Thanks

Rimmy and others on this thread, you are doing amazing in helping/warning others. On another forum about this same scam… “Ali” notes: we've managed to track their IP address + have her home address available…. We have a couple of names and a street address, however we've submitted to police (they will do a full investigation).

See page 3 http:// whocallsme .com/Phone-Number.aspx/07747192044/3 (remove the spaces to use)

And “Watson” on Page1 of this thread gives some good advice and suggestions.

My observation, is why can’t the Police / mobile phone companies quickly disable the mobile phone numbers if proven to be actively used for fraud? And, I still cannot understand, why if the scammers regularly use the “same” mobile phone number(s) then why can’t Gumtree disable ALL ads where this number is being used, and checks regularly of new ads using the same number too.

Also, would be great it Gumtree allowed users to “search” all ads made by the seller (old and live).

Advert looked genuine so I started to make enquiries and received a email form Kate Porter.
