UPS UKASH UKCASH Gumtree Scam and scams in general

Can I just point out that the prices the goods are offered at aren't always too good to be true. I enquired about a buggy that turned out to be a scam from Deb, having already been stung by this I knew straight away that it was a scam from the text message. I later bought an identical buggy from a reputable Gumtree seller and paid £5 more than what the scammers had theirs up for - the scammers are advertising the stuff for reasonable prices to make them look less suspicious.
Please don't assume that these ad's are always going to be for 'too cheap' prices, they're very difficult to spot at first.0 -
Hey
I've just had these royal mail emails too asking me to nuy a Ukash voucher. This time the woman doing the scam from Gumtree is Deborah Regan. She tried to sell me a kayak.
I only clicked when the royalmail emails came froma gmail account?

The fraudsters weren't asking to send the money.... but a scan or photograph of the receipt. And only if the receipt number was included in the photograph would it work. So no....people don't have to be completely stupid or a fool. Not what I'd call someone who lost money this way just because they are unfamiliar with these kind of devious people. How lovely it must be to be perfect. Where's your soul man?
She is also going by the name of Deborah Regan and 'tried' it on with me for a suspiciously cheap kayak. Buyers beware.0 -
So… what do we do to report the scammers?
I have responded to Gumtree to report this scammer, who contacted me as name: Deborah Regan, email: deborah75regan @ gmail.com, txt from: deb.s.iphon, mobile: “(0797)--342--5052 low signal strength area” (but don’t expect it to be answered, and their mailbox was full).
You can check out Deborah's “profile” on Google+ here : https: //plus.google.com /116242979857032391434 (added to their gmail)
Has anyone else reported one of these scammers to Gumtree or the Police?

Also wish I'd read this before.
I have just had the same from Deb Regan and stupidly paid £100 through Ukash for some Mamas & Papas nursery furniture. We're moving house and in such a rush didn't stop to check. Second email came from ParcelForce tracking-notice@post.com so seemed legit.
Can't believe I fell for it, but you live and you learn.
Is there any point reporting it to Ukash / Parcelforce / the Police?0 -
Hi I was about to buy a really good synthesizer on gumtree for £220 which seemed like a real bargain seeing as it was a Roland analogue SH-09. I checked around on ebay and these where going for around the £400-£600 mark. I sent a reply and the next day I got a reply from Deb on Deb.s. iphon. I tried to reply but my phone would not send a txt back. Her txt wrote " it's Deb from gumtree ( Roland synthesizer SH-09) if you have any questions email me deboragh75regan at gmail.com.
Luckily i realized that after she/he could not sort out a day for me to pick up the synth and after several phone calls would not pick up the phone and her answering messages was full and she/he wanted me to use some ukcash money exchange it was a hoax.
I really hope someone catches this person. Is there anywhere I can pass on the information about this person ???0 -

So nearly fell for the SH-09. I had bought the vouchers and was about to email but gut kicked in.
What a b*stard this person (or people) is.
We should all write complaint emails to GumTree, daily. It's just not acceptable that they support these criminals.
Good call previous poster who suggested the 5-7 points including email suspiciousemail@parcelforce.com and GumTree and other things.0 -
Hi. Good news. Gumtree were quick and effective after I reported a scam advert by Deborah75regan by…
a) providing a prompt and easy way of reporting potential scam (once found!)
b) provided a quick response from Gumtree
c) they were immediate in terminating the seller’s advert once you are satisfied that it is considered a scam.
They wrote back saying…strongly advise you not to follow their instructions and end contact with them immediately. We take reports of this nature, and the safety of our users, very seriously. I have removed this ad and used the information to try and prevent this person from using Gumtree again in the future.
To report scams on Gumtree
· Form home page, click “Contact us”
· Under “Contact us”, click “Email” and
· Select “Click to email a member of our customer support team. ”
· Click the green Email icon
· Select drop down “Report fraud/ spam/ abuse”
You will get a new window open called “CONTACT US” which is a simple online form and four boxes to complete:...
· “Comments”
· “Ad reference number(s)"
· “Copy of email(s) received”
· “Your email address”
I recommend you copy the full email and txt communications including email address, phone numbers, and Date/Time information.
I prepared all the response to above questions offline, and then simply cut/paste the info into the boxes, and I included adding the link to this forum thread as “proof” that emails I was being sent were as suspicious. Gumtree responded quickly.
Also, if you get an email impersonating PARCELFORCE WORLDWIDE then consider reporting it to the Police and forward the emails to suspiciousemail@parcelforce.co.uk, so Parcelforce are aware of the issue.

I have just been frauded by Deb Regan about a gumtree advert.
Exactly the same as above. I have a reference with UKash and reported with them as a fraud, also gumtree and now the Action Fraud website too. I will follow with a police notice to get a crime number. I cannot believe I have been so stupid and trusting.0 -
I too got scammed earlier today - Stupidly, I was questioning it the whole way through, searched the internet before actually completing the "transaction" (didn't find anything), sent the photo, searched again today, low and behold, I find this thread.
So stupid.0
