Red Star Call for PPI

3 Posts
Hi all - I am a first time poster but wanted some advice. Does anyone know about this company Red Star Financial Management. I had a telephone call from them advising that they knew that I had taken out PPI insurance on a loan I have with a particular company and they would be able to assist me in getting this back. They have sent me forms to fill out and sign but now I'm having second thoughts so haven't actioned this yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome
Personally I've not heard of them, not sure about anyone else, but if you think you have a case of being mis sold, have a go yourself, its actually less hassle and less paperwork, with just the completion of a reclaim questionnaire as on step 3 below, remember to save copies though. You send your reclaim questionnaire complaint to the complaints of head office of whoever sold you the account.
Using companies to make your reclaim, does not give a better success rate and nor are they any quicker, unfortunately there have been quite a few who have had problems using them, and at least by having a go yourself you will get to keep all your ppi refund.
Hope this helps, good luck.

They informed me that I have a potential PPI Claim with Staybrite Windows (that have now gone into administration) and they knew the account number too. They said that for companies that are still trading I should file a PPI Claim on my own, but for those companies that are no longer trading and have gone into administration (like Staybrite), it is more difficult for an individual to claim and that is why I should use Red Star. It is a no win, no fee thing and I hadn't actually remembered to bother to try and chase this myself etc, so if they managed to get me anything it would be more than I would have got (if you see what I mean).
ETA: The finance company was GE Money.
Any thoughts/advice?
Any advice about how I do make a PPI claim against a company that has gone into administration?
Information that is not in the public domain. So, if they have it, then it is in breach of the data protection act and a reportable offence as magpiecottage says.
Do you want to deal with a company that has your information unlawfully? If they are breaking the rules there, where else are they breaking them?
Depends on who regulated them at the point of sale and when they went into administration.
Also, remember that having PPI is not a reason for complaint. There are plenty of correctly sold and suitable PPI plans out there. You need to have a complaint reason.
Red star started ringing again said I need to pay VAT on top (£4).Dis agreed ,they threatened for legal action but still kept on calling and disturbing. You can hear laughter in the background as they preform there act.Asked them to go ahead with legals but they still ring to harass you , different person each time.A small amateur company with bunch of bullies.
Also applied on-line on my behalf with out me knowing to debt help advice and they rang me asking if I need help in financial matters.
KEEP AWAY
My dad and myself claimed our missold PPI back with the help of this site, but now red star are claiming that THEY claimed it back for us and are threatening court action. Despite us having all the relevant communications from the Financial Ombudsman and bank in question they still demand to be paid money for a claim that was dealt with independantly. Despite us giving them the "go ahead" to take it to court we still receive several calls each day from different people demanding payments from either independantly claimed cases and even cases we haven't received compensation for. They're always asking for our card details as cheques cannot be received due to them moving offices and have recently asked for passport and driving licences (copies not sufficient). Very dodgy company, and as naib said, nothing but harrassing bullies. really need some help with this one if any one can, but my advice is stay away.
Have you or your dad signed any paperwork with this company, or are any of the loans joint with your mum?
I have
