A Year of Living Frugabulously

            Here I am again,
Firstly, I cannot remember who wanted to join the secret squirrel survey site but they are currently recruiting so if anyone does want to earn £3 a go then pm me an email address & I'll send you the link
Secondly, things I have learnt today :
1- when agreeing that DD1 + the BF can visit about 2pm on a sunday, make sure to not be just agreeing with your mouth, it really helps if the mind is taking note of what the mouth is saying. Otherwise what will happen is that a slutty pyjama day will be rudely interrupted by a text announcing that said DD1 + BF are due to arrive in half an hour .
Turns out that it is indeed perfectly possible to tidy an entire home, hoover the living room, hall & stairs, get dressed, slap make up on, remove laundry from bathroom & fold into airing cupboard, wrap gifts & boil up a saucepan of water for tea/coffee all within 40 minutes. The question is, why does it usually take me all weekend to achieve all that .
2 - it is totally typical that after having b!itched about a relatives behaviour & ill-deserved costly gift, that same gift will be reduced by 25 % just 2 days later - karma 'repaying 'the whingeing no doubt
3 - Vodafone lie when they say that your iphone purchase will initally track at £1 & then show up at the expected £40 cashback a month later. I have had to raise a claim
4 - Having 8 eggs to eat before the use by date the following day, is going to be hard work & make a person feel very ill.
5 - Words With Friends makes words up & the scoring can be very iffy ; a person who can come up with words such as 'oryxes' ( me) should not be losing to someone who comes up with words such as 'om' or 'hop' (very smug Grumpy) !!!!!! ??? ; a person who can come up with words such as 'oryxes' ( me) should not be losing to someone who comes up with words such as 'om' or 'hop' (very smug Grumpy) !!!!!! ???
He's sent me a message promising that he's not using an app :rotfl: - I caught him out using one last week & read him the riot act & refused to play for 3 days . .
Anyway ... I've written out the cards that need to be posted, done all the surveys I can & have another £10 amazon voucher. I plan to head out early tomorrow to post the cards, pay in a cheque for DD, buy a kettle & attempt to return unused lights.
I've transferred £500 from the buffer fund to my current account & immediately sent a payment to the CC. Not all the transactions are showing up yet, but I estimate there's still a balance of about £250 to clear.
The Buffer Fund now has just £200 in it , but the Holiday Fund has nearly £400 in so can always be called upon if necessary. , but the Holiday Fund has nearly £400 in so can always be called upon if necessary.
Other than running about on errands tomorrow, I will have some home-job work to do & I need to write out & hand deliver some cards & make a start on the heinous wrapping.
 Best get some sleep then,
 G'night

Respect the power of Panic. If you haven't sent it, take it back for a refund.4 - Having 8 eggs to eat before the use by date the following day, is going to be hard work & make a person feel very ill.
There's not a thing up a chicken's bottom which puts little bombs inside the eggs so they go off exactly on time. Give it a witch trial. If it sinks, it's innocent - so eat it. If it floats, it's guilty, so chuck it out.

Loving a witch trial for the eggs ... also a return and refund and repurchase for the expensive gift Z is a real sage! Z is a real sage!
You sound much more chirpy, Lula, in spite of your slutty pyjama day being interrupted so rudely hope you had a good time with all the family. 2023: the year I get to buy a car0 hope you had a good time with all the family. 2023: the year I get to buy a car0

            Good morning again,
 (Monday & I'm at home - all cosy & have saved on fuel & mileage ) )
I did have to put the heating on for an hour when DD eventually got up as the poor child was shivering, but she's now snuggled under a blanket on the sofa & I'm wearing layers so all good.
Plans to head off out first thing to acquire kettles, go charitize etc were thwarted by apathy, reluctance & fear of the damp cold weather :rotfl:.
DD has been desperate for the new ipod touch & with the latest generous cheque from rellies, now has the required amount soooo .... I had a wander on quidco & came across a deal for free delivery & cashback when spending over £50 at Argoose. Turns out they don't have any of the kettles we want in stock at either of our closest stores but they do have them available for home delivery...
It made perfect sense to me; to order the i-pod, kettle ( & matching toaster :shhh:) & have them all delivered for free together within 2 days, thereby saving myself yet more fuel, time & aggro. Naturally I used the Custard Coloured Cashback Credit Card to pay , so that balance has rocketed back up to £450 but it will be fine & all paid off very soon , so that balance has rocketed back up to £450 but it will be fine & all paid off very soon . .
This does mean that I've not been to the charity shop, not returned the lights, not posted any cards & not paid in the cheque for DD but actually I'm not too bothered about that as she gave me the £75 cash she'd saved up (& I kinda owed her the other £80 anyway from when the last cheque went into my account & it never actually made it across to hers ) which means that I now have a goodly wodge of cash to use for doing fun stuff & paying for groceries etc.
I seem to have made a miscalculation with the holiday fund & having checked the account I was a bit disappointed to find I actually only have £365 in it, so signature duly amended. CB goes in next Monday so that will give it a bit of an end of year boost . .
Tomorrow we can do all the whizzing about in the car as Wednesday we need to stay in all day so we can sign for ipod & kettle delivery.
Today's home-job workload has arrived *groans* but did come with chocs, & £10 in a card & later on we need to wander to shops where I can post cards & parcels, pay in DDs cheque, & buy some bread & milk. & later on we need to wander to shops where I can post cards & parcels, pay in DDs cheque, & buy some bread & milk.

 Quite agree dear Karma,
what I must be wary of though, is not always succumbing to the temptation of making sure I spend enough in order to qualify for free delivery. I'm particularly prone to this when buying frillies from Figleaves
eg "What ?! pay a £3.50 delivery charge when if I just order another £35 worth of stuff then I'll get 'free' delivery " :rotfl:.
Anyway, home-job work has all been done & about half 3, I was suddenly overcome with an urge for fresh air so off we trotted to post office with our cards & parcels & DDs cheque. All posted & paid & a £2 coin in my change.
Remembered to go to the co op for milk & bread & only succumbed to a pack of crumpets & a reduced to £1.50 - frugal - giant margherita pizza as extras for supper tonight. Far less embarassing than last week when I popped in just for milk, came out with just wine & then had to go back again about 10 minutes later :rotfl:. I also acquired another £2 coin so my Fabby New Boots Fund is well on the way with £52 in it - fabulous - :j.
It's lovely to have finished all work so early & means I can relax tonight & do a bit of tv watching, magazine reading ( 2 still unopened) & bubble bath soaking - all fabulous -.
Can't remember if I mentioned that we made a Christmas video at work on Thursday to send to clients rather than the usual cards; well we did whic was fun to do & Design Dude has sent me it,as promised & it's great - very funny as speeded up & with accompanying banjo music . .
Apparently it's going on youtube as well :undecided - fortunately I'm just a blur . .
The Argoose purchase has now tracked through Quidco & my next mission is to research breakdown & contents insurance - both due for renewal within the next month. It's a tedious task but needs must so I'll get on with that in a bit, more crumpets first though
 Bye for now

Aah but going through Quidco makes it all the more bearable It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey 0 0
