A Year of Living Frugabulously

Hurray to saving trees! And I understand about not faffing too, especially at this time of year, time is too precious.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Excellent insurance quotes! :T :T I must confess to not sorting our contents insurance out yet, and it's due to be renewed today
Please tell me that £75 is not for the whole year - ours is £300 ish!   Sounds like it'll be worth sorting out AND paying a cancellation fee! 0 -
Thanks Cheery,
that is indeed for the whole year :j however, I'm a tenant rather than owner, so just have to pay for contents rather than buildings ( yes, this does now include Gordons related laptop accidents ) but still pretty good with a year's car breakdown throw in
.
Now, off you go & sort yours out ...
Still no delivery; DD close to bursting with anticipation & I'm midway through final workload of the year :undecided0 -
great quotes and yay to not having to fath about...love getting deliveries0
-
Pah - that £300 is *just* for contents - there's buildings insurance (of £38 something a month I believe  ) on TOP of that! Pah pah pah.
Still, can't sort everything out at once right??
Going to sit here and drink tea and look at fairy lights instead

Oooh Cheery,
that's quite a lot
:grouphug:
However, I think quotes are based on various 'risk factors' such as type of property, number of exterior doors, bedrooms, type of lock on both doors & windows, whether property is vacant during day or night & of course the value of your contents.
Therefore I conclude that whereas you obviously live in a rambling multi-bedroomed mansion with both main & 'staff entrances'
in a posh part of town & have many treasures ...
I live in a 3 roomed hutch with just one door, nothing of value & in a field with just sheep for neighours ( & radioactive ones at that) :rotfl:
Get thyself to Quidco & use the comparison sites on there to earn your first £1.50 just for them to find you deals & then take it from there.
After you've done more tea sipping & fairy light gazing of course

Erm, Lula, radioactive sheep? You wanna talk? Tho I do like the idea of living in a field

Bright Blessings to you lovely Rosa

We're now through to the other side & my celebrations were a tad muted this year, (being squished between finishing off home-job & trying to get DD sorted with her new ipod) I did make sure to raise a glass of Juniper Juice & be thankful for all that I have to carry us through the remaining dark days of winter.
I've never seen someone as eager to received a delivery as DD was today, she leapt up to the window each time she heard an engine & 3 times she had me check the order tracking which reiterated that it would be with us by 6pm. She was looking more & more miserable with each minute past 5 but eventually, at 5 minutes to 6 the delivery arrived.
She was ecstatic & I was relieved, 3 days without a kettle has been easily manageable, but aesthetically annoying; I have to keep the cooker lid up, & I bought that model specifically because it has a lid so I don't have to look at the cookerish bits.
So, we now have a fun spotty kettle which is a lovely shape, & we also have a matching spotty toaster. No, I didn't need it, but for the last 5 years I've bought the cheapest appliances I can to save money for paying off debts & I'm not going to do that anymore.
I try to choose my men using the William Morris code & I shall furnish my home accordingly
.
Now, about last night & the decision we made; we set off to the realms of Tatco to have a mooch about & see if there was anything worth buying. There really wasn't but I stocked up on toothbrushes, candles & lightbulbs, got DD some new socks and we also got a new book each, Lauren Childs. for her & an awesome book by Nicky Hambleton-Jones for me. Title : 'How to be Gorgeous'. I like Nicky & used to beg my DDs to send me on her Ten Years Younger show ... still waiting
.
Anyway, Tatco seemed to be having a special night for a particular group of society & we felt very out of it. I've never felt uneasy in there before, but it was horrid & as we got to the till I jokingly said to DD " I hate this place, shall we never come here again ?" & she grinned & nodded.
As we walked back to the car carrying my one bag of shopping that had just cost me over £50  but was of no actual use in terms of feeding us I wondered out loud if we could actually go a whole year without setting foot in Tatco. DD is really keen & once I realised that I can fuel up at Sainsbugs & just earn all my reward/loyalty points there, I reckon I can do it.
I have plenty of household & pantry items & as of now I am making a stand against Tatco.
Shopping there is most definitely NOT fabulous & I can be frugal anywhere; that's a lifestyle choice not a supermarket locationery requirement.
I'm off to waitrose first thing tomorrow for fresh food, fruit & veg
