Ive never frozen mushrooms myself (sorry, think they are the food of the devil!!!) but im sure i have seen bags of frozen mushrooms in Tescos, so i would say you could. You often get mushrooms in frozen meals as well.

I freeze sliced mushrooms a lot for using in casseroles etc so I would think whole ones should be fine too. I prefer to blanche them before freezing but I know some people have posted to say that they can be frozen without blanching.

I slice them and cook in a little butter or water, and find they keep better (in the freezer) that way.

I'm in exactly the same boat and have had a large packet of bargain mushrooms looking sadly at me from the fridge for a couple of weeks now. So I'm having garlic mushrooms for tea

Just in case you're looking for something else you might be able to do with them :)

Thanks catowen, you confirmed what I thought:D It really is a lovely meatloaf, very flavoursome!! And I'm sure you will have leftovers, it's a generous size. Decided to freeze it last night. DH said "why not? If it goes wrong you can easily make some more" He says the cold compress has really helped the black-eye;) :rotfl: CMx
