    Hiya,

Your best bet would be to try the "Benefits Board" and if you have no luck there you could try the "Families Board".

    Hi folks,

Anyone know what amazing things I can do with tinned lentils? Especially things that OH will not recognise as lentils? ;)

    Thanks!

Much the same as I do when I have loads of veg that need using up?

There's a limit to how much veg soup I can eat. So I often chuck any old bits of veg plus anything lying around, plus odds and ends such as a few lentils into the slow cooker.

Once done I whizz thoroughly and then portion it out and freeze it.

Then I don't use it as soup - I use it as the base "stock" for nice rich gravy for stews and casseroles. Just add "meaty" stock cubes or even a spoonful of bovril for really good basic mince :)

    Interesting...
I was going to slowcook a lamb shoulder later, maybe with carrots and onions, tinned tomatoes... Should I chuck the tinned lentils in too and see what happens?

Why not? If it looks too "lentilly" - lift out the lamb, use a slotted spoon to lift out most of the big bits of veg, whizz what's left, then put everything back in.

Just don't get caught doing it :)

Excellent! Will have a bash now and let you know how it turns out... I'm thinking Moroccan influences, maybe served with rice (no couscous in cupboards!), and of course leftover lamb butties...

    Thrilling lamb/lentil update:

    DELISH!

Falling off the bone, and lentils adding to stewy goodness. Yum.
