I've often seen lovely supermarket birthday cakes (those character/picture ones) reduced to silly prices at the end of the day.
What I'd like to know is, would it be possible to buy one of these and put it in the freezer to keep for grandchildren's birthdays? They are basically only a fancy jam/buttercream sandwich cake with icing after all.
I have bought these in the past and used one or two days past their best before date - just wondered if freezing would prolong their life by a month or so.
Has anybody on here ever done that?0 -
I think you'll find that I've already answered that one. Yes, it should be fine.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

Many thanks for that, trying - got a 6yro grandson due to turn 7 in October - so shall keep my eyes peeled among those cakes now :j .0 -
My MR breadmaker will make enough dough for 3 pizzzas.
But only want 1.
Can i freeze rest or should i cook it as a plain base then freeze?
Thanks0 -
I usually just freeze the dough but you could do either. I think it's best to start off with the dough raw for cooking pizza's.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0

hi everyone,
I wondered if there was an OS way to unblock the bathroom sink?
It is draining really slowly at the moment, and I think it has got clogged up with hair. Goodness knows how - i don't even brush my hair in there! I have tried to get some of it out, but it isn't working very well.
Anyway, I have used one of those bought solutions before (just very thick bleach I think) but they are about £4 and not actually that good.
Can anyone recommend a solution to put down the sink to clear it?
Any ideas gratefully received.
Thanks,

If it's plastic, there's usually two 'rings' you unscrew, then the whole thing comes off. You scrape any gunk out, give it all a good rinse through (at another sink or still with your bucket in place!) then screw the whole thing back up. Check for leaks before removing bucket ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi, I'm hoping someone will be able to help with my question, or point me in the right direction as I've drawn a blank so far!
What is the best way to store my daughter's prom dress safely and cost effectively? It was very expensive (not very MSE I know) and she plans to wear it again at her college ball in a couple of years.
To date it has been hanging in one of the proper dress bags on my bedroom door, but it can't stay there so I would really like to know the best way I can safely store it in my loft. I'm worried about moths etc. Should I put it in a large box, or does it need air? I don't want to just put it up there in the dress bag as it has loads of tiny air holes and I think it will end up filthy and unwearable, which is the last thing I want.
I'd really appreciate any help on this.
thank you in advance.0
