Sorry, this is probably a really daft question. :o I have just had the last pickled egg from a shop-bought jar. If I hard-boil and shell some eggs and pop them in the jar that's still full of vinegar would that be a safe way of making more? And how long would I have to leave them?

    Thanks in advance x

I have to cook basmati boil in the bag rice almost every day. Is there any way I could cook three bags at once and then refrigerate the other two? If it is possible, how would I then re-heat it for consumption? If I need to place it in boiling water again (I think I read somewhere you do so for 30 - 60 seconds?), it would be easier for me to leave them in the bags and I'd prefer to do so anyway; I'm just not sure if that's a viable option. Thanks for any help.

    Hi blahn,

Left over cooked rice can contain a nasty bacteria (bacillus cerius) so you need to be careful and make sure it's chilled quickly and kept cold or frozen before reheating it. Always make sure it's piping hot before serving.

Saying that, I have been reheating left over rice for years with no problems, although I've never tried it with boil in the bag rice.

    Hi sandy,

Yes you can if they've been cooked. If you are planning on freezing them it's best to undercook them slightly then open freeze on a tray before putting them into a bag or container as that stops them clumping together. I find it's best to reheat them from frozen rather than defrost them first.
