    Mrs A,

Is the just the marks on the inside that you are worried about? If so just boil water in it several times...you shouldn't ever use soap of any kind on this type of cafetierra or so says my friend Salvatore, who makes a mean espresso.

    Hope that this helps

Or you can mash it mixed with potato or on it's own.

    Another quick question... :D

Can I cook pork chops in my new slow cooker with cream of mush soup over them? If so, can I cook them on low for 8 hours or will then end up nasty and chewy?

    THanks :D

newlywed, it's probably the best place to cook them. I did something simlar in the oven for 2 hours and it was melt in the mouth. I have done them in the SC since and they are just as good! I did chicken in mush condensed soup the other day and that was good too!

Thanks Skint_Catt. That's tomorrow's tea sorted then - as long as they are defrosted in time ;)

Only used the slow cooker for the first ever time at the weekend and already loving the way dinner can be prepared the night before and just bunged in the next morning :D Think I'll be using it most days now (as long as I don't get any disastrous meals from it :D) Thought it would make life easier for a few days in the week, but now I'm thinking - EVERY day - I just love this forum :D

Hi , just wondered if there is a "formula" for converting the amount of fresh yeast in bread recipes to the equivalent amount of dried yeast?
I have a recipe book with some really nice bread recipes in, but half of them use fresh yeast and half dried with no alternative amounts given.

My "Dairy book of home cookery" says:

Allow 7g/¼oz (or 2 level teaspoons) dried yeast for every 15g/½oz fresh yeast

That sticky stuff is a nightmare to get off, on a few occasions I have resorted to using a small amount of white spirt/turps on a bit of cotton wool and dabbing the area till it disolves. You will have to soak and wash the trousers really well afterwards as the smell from the turps lingers forever. Don't do what I did and put them in the washer will other things as the whole wash will smell:eek:
