    LIz,

There's a Nigella recipe for ice-cream made by just juicing an orange and adding it with grated zest and icing sugar to cream, then freezing...don't have recipe but think that you can probably flavour it to your own liking and freeze...can't remember if freezing lessens or increases flavour, so maybe you should work that out first.

    Good luck

    Liz,

What I do is use double cream, same weight in milk (any kind) and then 1/4 of the weight in sugar. I use my ice cream maker (a (blooming expensive)present to myself, lol, for doing well in my job! I use it all the time, though) but you can easily do this in the freezer. It just takes longer and requires a bit more tlc. Stir it every hour or so with a fork to break up any ice crystals.

It doesn't set anywhere near as hard as bought ice cream but the difference in taste is unbelieveable! I would prefer to not eat as much of the good stuff that lots of the bought stuff.

  • My DD has managed to cover both her (white) cookery apron and (natural) art apron with orange chalk which has become ingrained on both. What's the best way to remove this? I'm thinking that maybe I should soak them first before washing in the WM but should I add anything to the water? I have soda crystals, bio washing powder, non-bio washing powder and vanish in my cupboards. Any ideas would be appreciated.

We have one of those metal on-hob espresso makers. Didn't use it for a while, and there is mottled white slimy-looking stuff inside that I think might be limescale. Can't find anything suitable-looking in the shops to clean it. Tried hot water and biological powder - seemed like a good idea at the time but didn't work! Any ideas?

:confused:I'm not sure but what about a denture tablet, just a little bit of water, and some grains of rice or even one of those spiral wired pot scourer scrubby things iykwim. Throw them all and swirl round. I use the denture tablets in teapots and flasks and it works great, but I suppose it depends what kind of metal you've got.

  • i roasted a chicken, and used/stripped all the meat off it.. i have boiled the carcus for a few hours..

i want to use the stock to make leek an potato soup.. in the past i have used a stock cube...lol...

right the question is.... do i need to leave the water/stock cool, and just use the jelly part on the top when it cools, or can i just use the liquid/stock still hot and put my pots and leeks in etc.. to cook....

silly question i know, but hubby is sticking his 2 peenith worth in.. and totally fried my brain...
