I'm now on Sky unlimited fibre and, whilst definitely a bit slower than BT Infinity, it's not really noticeable in daily use. The fact I got it for 6 months free of charge and got discount off my TV package at the same time swung it for me. Plus it was only a 12 month contract meaning I can change after a year if not totally happy, but so far so good.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

suppose it depends on what you use the internet for and what speed you currently get. What are the answers to those two for starters?
Personally myself, we live 150m from the exchange and get 8Meg with Plus net for £17.99 a month. No option to go with LLU suppliers are there are none in the exchange at the moment. We are happy with the 8Meg, it does us for youtube/ remote desktop to work in the evenings and email etc...
Just in case this is of interest to you. I have been with PlusNet for years and they are not in my exchange either. 2 years ago when it came around to renewal time, I spoke to the retention dept and ended up paying £6.99 a year, the same price as if they had been in the exchange. l did have a data quota each month, I think it was 10gb. This year I went back to them and got unlimited data for 9.99 a month. Now I don't have to worry about watching BBC iPlayer in HD.
I am on the 8mb package also, although I am about a mile and a half from the exchange. My router syncs at around the 6meg mark, which is absolutely fine.0 -
Did you have to take their phone service to get that price of £6.99?Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34

Not sure. I do have my phone with them but can't remember when I signed up.
I pay my line rental up front for the year as this also saves a few quid.0 -
I only asked as I was tied into BT contract with line rental saver at the time I called plusnet to discuss my broadband costs. They said that when my BT line rental saver expired to call them back and "they would be able to reduce the BB cost substantially" which is more than likely the £6.99 you speak of.Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34

BTW I also managed to get a new router out of them this year, completely free. I didn't need it, but as it turns out, it syncs better than my old one and of course now I have a spare when the time comes.0 -

I have my phone with Plusnet too. I also have the "anytime" calls option as well as their top line fibre package. The price varies sometimes because I've been included in a number of offers to attract new customers but I think at the moment I'm paying around £39 a month.
I'd happily do away with the phone line but they're not offering any package at the moment whereby you can do that. Similarly I know they were investigating the possibility of offering the BT TV package - I'd be interested in that. I was thinking of wiring the house to give us a connection to the modem for "catch up TV" so if I subscribed to a phone based TV service I'd get that wiring as part of the deal.BTW I also managed to get a new router out of them this year, completely free. Just had a new, free router from Plusnet a couple of months ago. The old one was misbehaving intermittently. I just threw it in the bin. They only cost about £20 but if Plusnet are standing over their entire package like this then I'm unlikely to ever have to pay for one - another reason to stay with Plusnet.0 -
One point to watch if changing to BT Infinity. If you have a VoIPs number you may find that BT will not be able to transfer it over. That was one of the inconveniences I experienced.[STRIKE]Less is more.[/STRIKE] No less is Less.0
