HALIFAX no longer offering Childrens Regular Saver account - who do I ask to update?

So Halifax have no stopped doing their 6% regular saver account for children - so the moneysavingexpert.com site needs updating to reflect that Halifax may no longer offer the best regular savings for children.

Who do I contact to get this updated?

    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

They stopped doing it in September.

And replaced it with a more or less identical account called Kids Regular Saver. That pays 6% too.

Top right of your screen to advise the nice MSE peeps.
  • I live in Glasgow, Scotland and have saved for my daughter over the last few years. I have been notified that at the end of this term (nov 2011) this account changes to a regular saver 2%.

I contacted Halifax to keep the new Kids Regualr Saver and have been told that it is no longer available in Scotland as you need to renew the account via a branch. Apparently Scotland has no Halifax banks now only Bank of Scotland, who do not offer halifax accounts anymore.

Seem the Scottish children are not worthy of the 6% interest.

It is a big problem if you live in Scotland, but don't expect much sympathy from the rest of the country.

I advised MSE quite a while back, but cannot see that the change has been noted

Next best CRS is the Dylan one with Principality, can be opened by post I believe. Pays 4.5%

Halifax are trying their best to discourage people from opening these accounts. These accounts used to renew automatically first. Now you can't even open them on phone - you have to go to branch personally.

I went to the branch today armed with all the documents I was told to bring on phone, only to be told that I had to bring my 7 year old daughter with me. Apparently, they need to discuss it directly with her ............ Can you believe it? I was also told that if they discussed it with me, it would be in breach of data protection act ................. When I told them that she has had the regular saver account with them for two years and I have acted as a trustee all along, they said they have changed the rules now. They have to deal directly with the child, the account will be in child's name directly and they can't discuss it with me. Is it even possible for them to expect a 7 year old to run an account by themselves?

Seems they don't know their own rules.....the person opening the account must be over 18.

    http://www.halifax.co.uk/savings/accounts/branch-accounts/#kidsregularsaver

Their rules are the same as Lloyds, and i have just opened savings accounts with Lloyds for my 2 grandchildren.

    Go back and complain!

It will run its term. It will then become a Young Saver (currently paying 2%). If you then wander in to a Halifax branch you can open a Kids Regular Saver.

Halifax are still doing the childrens regular saver it's now known as kids regular saver - it cannot be opened over the phone now and has to be opened in branch and yes it is still 6% so this site is still correct :j and apologies if I have just duplicated ealier answers - would pay to read them all first :D
