After phoning my local Halifax to check what doc's I needed take the branch ,
I then (today) visited them to open a Regular Saver Account for my son ....
only to be told I would have to make an appointment and return another day
as they were too busy to open new any new accounts ..... I saw two other customers and at least four visible staff.
Oh well I won't bother them again .... (-:0 -
Halifax are still doing the childrens regular saver it's now known as kids regular saver - it cannot be opened over the phone now and has to be opened in branch and yes it is still 6% so this site is still correct :j and apologies if I have just duplicated ealier answers - would pay to read them all first

Which is fine if you actually have a branch to visit!
I don't think it ever could be opened over the phone.0 -
I used to renew my kids ones over the phone. Went into branch the other day. Counter assistant didn't even know the accounts had been renamed and were 'new'. Was passed over to someone else who said I could open online, in branch or over the phone (looks like they got that wrong). Also, on maturity will convert to the Young Saver. Also confirmed that my 3yo daughter could end up with a dozen Young Saver accounts if we use this account year on year without closing the new Young Saver and switching the funds to an existing one. If it aint broke, it don't need fixing! Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

Previously the CRS just carried on unless you cancelled it, no renewal needed, but new childrens accounts always had to be opened in the branch as far as I can remember.
Young Saver only pays 2%, no reason to keep even one going!
Go to Lloyds for 3% on their Young Saver (but you need a current account yourself first), or Northern Rock for 3% on their Little Rock passbook account.0
