Halifax "In Branch" accounts not available in Scotland

I had a look on this site for a saver account for my daughter. I decided upon Halifax "Kids Regular Saver".
Did a search online and got the address of my nearest Halifax. Went there today to find that it is actually not the Halifax at that address but the Bank Of Scotland. The receptionist told me that I'd need to apply by phone or online for this account.
I went home again and called Halifax. They told me that this account, like many others, is a "branch only" account and can't be organised over the phone or via the internet, that Halifax hasn't had any branches in Scotland since 12th September and it is impossible for my daughter to open the account.
Just though I'd share to prevent others from wasting time like I did.

A good example of how the internet contains a lot of inaccurate info from dubious sources.
Had you used the actual branch finder on Halifax's website, https://www.halifax.co.uk/branchfinder, then you'd have found that there are no Halifax branches in Scotland.0 -

We have lodged a complaint regarding this with our branch.
It will of course get us nowhere other than a stupid reply, but it will mean that the "problem" gets passed on, so there may be changes eventually.
If everyone who is affected by this lodges a complaint, it just might jog BOS into offering an equivalent account.0
