is Halifax business model racist? [Title edited by MSE Forum Team]

I've been a Halifax customer for over 25 years. while researching child savings accounts I found info on the Halifax regular Child savers account which is giving 6% interest. This sounded too good to be true and unfortunately if you live in Scotland it is!
When Halifax became HBOS, their branch business was moved to the BOS branch. I went there to set up the accounts today. when I got there I was informed that i could no longer set up anything to do with Halifax. BOS only offer a standard child savings account at about 2% interest - so no 6% equivalent for the Scots.
This means effectively that the Halifax no longer function in Scotland.
When I spoke to HBOS on the phone, those answering the phone seemed confused that I considered myself a Halifax customer when I lived in Scotland. I was asked, "was I sure". The correspondance I receive has the Halifax logo on it and the card I use has the logo on it!
What is next for the Halifax customer in Scotland?:(
