Moving to 3 bed house?!!?

Im currently in a 2 bedroomed house (myself and my 4 yr old son) im pregnant and want to move to a 3 bedroomed house for room when the baby arrives. I get full housing benefit (LHA) for the 2 bedroomed house but according to the council LHA website im only entitled to a 2 bed house even though there will be me and 2 kids. At the moment the rooms are too small to share (the cot wont even fit in my room with my bed.) If i moved to the 3 bedroomed house will i still only get the LHA for 2 bedrooms or will it go up to the 3 bedroomed rate? sorry if this sounds complicated!!

Im pretty sure you are entitled to a 2 bed house because the children are supposed to share a room.0

But the room isn't big enough for 2 and what if the next one is a girl, are they still meant to share?0

Not often I rise to the bait - but this time I am. Why should you get a 3 bed house if you are on LHA? Why don't you pay for it yourself? Maybe you should have considered this before you got pregnant? Just a thought.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Yes they are and it happens up and down the country, for years and has done since people started having children....
It's only when one reaches a certain age or something that they are deemed as not suitable to be sharing. If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
When they're older I'm sure you could change your sons bed for a bunk bed?
Or see if you can squeeze two beds in?
Or move after the baby?
Or swap bedrooms if your sons is bigger?
Get yourself a smaller bed?
Move now and pay the difference yourself?
Think about things beforehand??If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

I'd agree.
We brought up three kids in a two bedroom until I could afford to buy a three bedroomed house.
We accepted we'd have to when we decided to have our children.
No one offered us a house for nothing,we had to live within our means.0 -

im just asking so i know all the info available.0 -
I have a vague memory of when I was in a council house a few years back that children didn't count towards the permitted occupancy rate until they were 18 months old when they counted as half a person. They didn't get to be a full person till they were a lot older (I don't remember the exact age.)
Although the rules probably differ between areas and agencies, I'd guess that something similar still applies. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
