    Evening.
Had a rough day, as it was a funeral today so feeling a bit blue. But thought I'd do a quick update.
I got £8 for my 3 bags of clothes. Not too shabby for some old stuff that doesn't fit me anymore.

Today was a no spend day, but tomorrow I'm on a conference in London so not a chance in hell of that being a no spend day! Hoping it won't be too much though...

Sorry to hear about the funeral; I always find them such odd affairs that often leave me feeling empty rather than sad, probably because of the whole tea, cakes and small talk business afterwards.

Well done on your NSD today. No chance you can limit your spending tomorrow? Can't you claim most on expenses?
Council Tax £1,928.85, Fines £90.00, Old Car Tax £267.00, Gas £337.25, Electric £54.42

My train tickets and conference is already paid for. I have to pay for the tube but can claim that on expenses. Lunch etc I'll need to pay for myself though.

The worst part of the funeral was the lady was only 44, and their youngest son was the same age as my daughter. It was heartbreaking. :(

Could you not sneak a wee packed lunch into your bag? I thought most conferences provided lunch.

Oh my, it is sad when someone so young dies. My friend's dad has terminal cancer with only a few months to go so I will have that funeral to attend soon.

Hmmm... I'm going to have a look through the paperwork as I might missed that it included lunch.

Funerals are horrible things. I didn't know the lady but a loads of us from work went to support our colleague. So sad...

  • Morning all.
Had a good day in London yesterday, and thanks to lunch being provided (Thanks for the heads up!) I only spent £4 on parking (which I can claim back in expenses) and £2 something on (decaff..sob..) coffee and a bacon roll at the station. We didn't get much time outside of the conference to do a lot other than go "Ooh look, there's Big Ben and Westminister Abbey!" so didn't get much chance to spend money anyway :rotfl:. Had a fab day though and really want to go back and do the tourist thing and see the sights.

In other news, I had an email yesterday to say the first payment of my car insurance isn't going out til December, so I've managed to save an extra £35.99 into the holiday fund (including the £8 from cash4clothes) which I'd originally budgetted for the insurance payment. Bonus! So this week altogether I've saved £65.99 :) Should have £115.35/£360 in the holiday fund now but I need to get on my online banking and check but it's being tempermental so will check later. I would've saved a bit more but I've needed to keep some moeny aside to get my daughter some bits for her dance show when we go shopping later. Will try and save a bit more next week anyway to make up for it.

Have also got the music magpie package reasy to send once I can get down the post office, but our post office will be closing now so will have to go on a lunchbreak on monday.

Well on the way to getting the holiday fund paid off by the end of the month, have £198 worth of standing orders due to go out, leaving £46.65 left to save. :)

Glad your day in London went well and was almost a NSD. I did think you'd get a free lunch but I hope you resisted filling your handbag from the buffet for later in the day!

Where are you hoping to go with the holiday fund and when? My friends have started to talk about a holiday next summer which I really can't afford so I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

Haven't got round to using Music Magpie; do they pay well or is it just 20p a CD?

We're off to Majorca in May :) We're all really excited and can't wait!

Musicmagpie doesn't pay massive amounts, but from my lot they varied from 30p to £3 each so it all depends on what you have :)

Ooh, lovely. Hope you have a great time. Think my friends and I will be going on a city break to Berlin next summer although I can't afford it! I can't stand the heat so a non beach holiday in northern Europe suits me better although we have to go during the school holidays, thus bumping the price up, as one of my friends is a teacher.

Will check out Music Magpie and I suppose anything is better than nothing. Are there good equivalent sites for books as I can't be bothered listing on ebay and Amazon? How lazy am I? Lol.
