Good point, some cats are allergic to fish. Beef is another one that they can develop allergies to.0

Have booked him in at the vets tonight. Will ask the vets about the food allergy as well but will defintely look at stopping the dry good and giving him more meat. Will just have to try it and see how he goes. Thanks all!
these cats eh?
Have received my last expenses cheque today so am putting that into the holiday fund to make up part of the money paid on the travel insurance. It's only £8.50 but it's most of it replaced anywayalso paid my £250 in the bank. Just need to find somewhere to do my tyres now. Hope I'll have some money leftover

Don't know what size tyres you need or what price you are looking at paying, but have a look at these brand new tyres:

Most tyre fitters will charge you around a tenner per tyre for fitting, so might be worth seeing what the likes of kwik fit etc can do you price wise.0 -
Thanks! Will have a look.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Try avoiding the dry stuff for a while. It's not good for cats anyway, and if he has a grain allergy as Van says, it should show up reasonably quickly.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Back from the vets.. £44.10 lighter
Saw a different vet today so had a second opinion. He has a good look at him and agreed with the original vet's diagnosis of a flea allergy due to where he's been scratching/chewing and also the state of his skin. They've given him a longer steroid injection and a strong flea treatment which I have to do each month. I've also got to get some spray for the house as even though he hasn't got fleas, there could be one or two that have bitten him and fallen off/died and made it flare up. Basically the vet's wanting to see how it goes with the new treatment and longer lasting steroid injection which *should* sort it out. He says that he doesn't want him to be having the injections long term as obviously it's not good for them, so they'll only do one more if it wears off and he flares up again before looking as getting him in for allergy tests (Which apparently should be covered by my insurance).
I did ask him about the food allergy, and he says that they don't think it is a food allergy as they'd expect him to be scabby and itchy around his face/neck which he isn't, it's all on his back stomach and legs which they say is typical of flea allergy. They've asked me not to change his food though, as they want to try just the flea treatment for now and see how it goes, so that they can rule it out if it doesn't help.
Hopefully we'll get to the bottom of it. I don't like seeing him clearly bothered by it. The vet's also told me to inform the pet insurance company so that if he DOES need tests later on they can't refuse to pay out because I didn't inform them soon enough. Going to dig out my policy stuff and have a mooch.
I miss being with the PDSA. I forgot how much vet bills could be

Yep, one of my cats is allergic to fish, he gets very scabby because of it. Luckily my mum had come across it before, but the vet was impressed I'd worked it out as it's hard to find out the triggers in cats. A previous cat became allergic to fleas after our dog died, it was tied in with stress and another cat encroaching on her territory. She had some sort of de-stress injection and was fine after that.
