I was about to ask WHAT craft shop - then I realised it's YOUR Shambles and not the one in Valliland!
Mudders my grandma used to have little ribbons sewn on to tiny safety pins with poppers on, for holding up her 'unmentionables'. Or you could fashion something with velcro - Juliejim's got some- did you get that sorted BTW Juliejim?
Brought the washing in. Some's too wet to iron, really but some dry enough to iron and air so I have done a maidenful.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
Ooooh that's a good idea and even I, with my limited sewing ability, could do that. I've got poppers. Where would I get 'tape' from? Is that something that John Lewis would say in the haberdashery section? I'm liking that idea - thank you

LW How about the lady that organises your Dog sitting for you? Or the local vicar? Is it compulsory that you have to give details?
Unfortunately the dog-sitting lady is really just a business acquaintance, although I do get on well with her; and I don't even know the vicar (I assume we must have one??:D). I don't believe it's compulsory - I never had any contact names in my old passport, and it was never questioned;:o it just depresses me that I don't have anyone close in RL, other than Mr LW, who would actually give a tinker's cuss if anything happened to me.:( Now, my will on the other hand, I had to think long and hard.... in the end, Mr LW's two oldest pals are down as my potential executors, on the basis that it's Mr LW who will have to work with them if/when I pop my clogs.;) So that's the infamous "A" who we've sort of looked after a bit since his divorce, and "P", who Mr LW has known for over 20 years, too, but who doesn't actually like me very much if we're honest.
Now, for the latest Challenge update. As mentioned, I've been poorly all day, so not really up to speed....
Friday Variety is the spice of Life
Bored of cooking the same meals all the time? Dig out a cookery book or search on line and plan to cook something new this weekend. It can be a dinner, cake or even breakfast – give your taste buds a treat.
No star claimed yet:( I've eaten three dry cream crackers all day - although I did just now manage an omelette cooked by Mr LW. Hoping to feel better tomorrow; if we managed to get some cream at the Farmers Market, I'll make us a quiche, as we haven't had one for ages. I can vary what goes in it, to comply with the challenge.;)
Enjoy the weekend
Bonfire weekend so try to have some fun with family or friends or just catch up on some reading, knitting etc
I can claim this star - as soon as Mr LW's done his Wii Fit stuff, we shall sit down together and look at the General Knowledge crossword in the paperWe enjoy this, it exercises the ol' brain cells, and gives us some time together.
Preparing for Winter Challenges:snow_grin
Friday Bedtime
Time to change the duvet for a higher tog; test the electric blanket; check the hot water bottles for leaks and get the flannelette sheets out. If possible wash light weight duvets before storing for winter – stored in pillow cases they can be left on the bed as extra cushions if you lack space or placed flat underneath the mattress for added warmth.
Snowman, please!:D We only have the one duvet, but I've washed the merino underblanket, and it's now safely on the bed. The sheets we use in place of the duvet in the hot weather are all tidied away in the bed drawers.
Weekend Outside
Outside winter preparation. Turn off outside tapes. Empty water butts. Put away garden toys (clean) empty out pots which have finished and store. Cover garden furniture. Make sure the BBQ has not been left filthy for next year. Check supplies of logs and coal for winter. Do you have salt for the ice? Sweep up some leaves (of get someone else too) to prevent slippery paths.
We did a lot of this during the week; we don't use coal or logs and don't own a BBQ, but we have salt available, and some sand, and Mr LW has even hoovered the floor of the shed (he did this the same day he cleaned and sharpened the mower before putting it into "hibernation") and we habitually keep all the garden stuff clean and tidy, so I'll claim my Snowman, please.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Evening all, just put the computer on. I've done two loads of washing today. I know where the salt is for when it gets icy! Waiting for timer to go off for dinner - there it goes!0

Pen Pen - loved the lego video
After turning up out of the blue earlier this week, my phone line clearly took objection to the unexpected foray back into MSE land and decided to go TU. Took BT two days to sort it out (complete rewiring required from top of telegraph pole to house to sockets in hallway) but I'm back online.
Have I flown today? Hmmm - decluttered a couple of hours in catching up on sleep. Cycled (yes - cycled! - can't afford a lot of petrol at the mo so have taken to cycling whenever I can - oh it also helps stave off the pounds I was beginning to put on after I gave up smoking in the summer!) to Asda for some small bits and then the butcher for meat and the market for veg and cycled home on a very wobbly, rather overladen vintage bike again. And then I crocheted a "neck cosy"! I've decided one of the reasons I feel cold is because my neck is cold. Don't have any polo neck jumpers and can't justify buying new ones at the moment so used a ball of wall that was knocking about and rustled up a cowl - or is a snood?. It's actually quite effective!
But, ought to think about putting dinner on - chicken casserole tonight methinks...I am the leading lady in the movie of my life
