It'll get more visitors if they hold it there; why have it on the outskirts of town when you can have it in the dead centre......
don't worry, i've already got my coat.0 -
I presume that as the parish council are still selling plots then it will continue as a cemetary.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Are they still selling plots? I didn't have chance to click all links but the one i posted up has complaints from residents but none mention that people are still being buried there.0

According to the OP this is happening.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Yeah but they only came out with that after everybody said they couldn't see a problem with it.0

In our town, an old church was turned into an Arts Centre where they have shows, musical performances etc. You walk through the cemetery to get into the building, same as when the church was in use. There are tarmaced paths from the gates to the building and people seem to stick to these...
It's a very old church and the graveyard has been full for a long, long time (all old graves). When I'm in the ground, I'd rather have people having fun overhead than rot under a disused building that eventually falls down.
One of the pluses is that the graveyard is well tended. If the building had been left to become derelict, this probably wouldn't be the case.0 -

Granted, but you see quite a few on here who do not give all the facts in the OP.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

My thoughts exactly. I have in my will that I want to be cremated. Woe betide anyone who doesn't adhere to this instruction. I cannot stand the thought of being buried and the decomposing phase, worms etc. Also feel that it would be rather quiet and boring, if you lf you can look down on yourself. Could have a disco there if it was up to me. Rather go up in flames and spread me ashes somewhere nice. Seychelles sounds good ! lol0 -
It should be noted that the cemetery is actually the dead center of Forest Row0

i live in norwich and at 1 point there was a church for every week of the year (a pub for everyday, that says a lot) within the city walls, many of them still stand but very few are actually used for what they were originally built for, we even have one that was a science museum but is now being used as a msic school, very few are derelict but have been put to other uses. one church (which still has services) has a path right through the middle of the cemetery that leads to the main shopping mall and is the most used path to get there.
people still lay flowers on the graves, granted many are at least 100 years old. so long as the bodies are not dug up and are treated with respect then i dont think it should be a problem.
most churches are stunning buildigs and if arent used for ther thing will just become derelict and i think thats worse0
