Vodafone employee advantage scheme 20% discount - NHS?

I work within the Scottish Government and no-one had heard about it, but I done a search on our intranet and found the form, I think what the vodafone folk are saying is that although your health trust isn't on the list they give the discount to the whole of the NHS, I also asked the other day if there were any exceptions to what phones or contracts you could get and they said no, so you can get the latest handset including iPhone 4s, as long as the contract is over £20 per month you get your 20% discount.

Orange also do it, they told me for the whole of the 'civil service' and you do it instore, you just have to take along a couple of recent wage slips and home id etc to set up the DD for paying it, but you don't get iPhone deals on that, well so they told me, but you get a 25% discount with them. I also checked that on our companies intranet too and it was there also.

I'd love to know why they don't tell us more about these at the end of the day us civil servants don't get many perks, if any.

My work don't do it but going to email HR when I get back to work as our work mobiles are with Vodafone so would make sense to start if we can

I work for the NHS but it seems that offer only applies if you got your contract direct from Vodafone, either shop, online or telesales. I signed up to Vodafone via Phones4U, followed all the online instructions for the scheme only to be told I'm not eligible.

Feel a bit conned - what difference does it make where I signed the contract, fact is I'm with Vodafone?

Seems like one of those schemes where very few people will find they can actually get the discount. All smoke and mirrors from Vodafone :mad:

Depends who they pay commision to. In your case the commission went to P4U so they don't want to offer the discount. It is clearly stated in the details we have circulated at work it's direct only but that depends what your employer tells you.

Again it's really own to your employer to circulate details. If they don't tell you it's down to them, it's a perk and part of your total pay packet, so your employer should be circulating the details out not Vodafone.

As an existing customer I upgraded my contract with Vodafone this Sunday. On Monday the discount form was filled in for me by a close friend who works for LLoyds Bank and knew all about the 'Vodafone Employee Discount Scheme'. You are supposed to get a reply back within 2 working days, suprise suprise, no reply.

I have only really stayed with Vodafone because of the offer of this discount, their customer service has been terrible in the past and I'm kicking myself as I should have known better! After a bit of research on the net you can see the amount the people that have had issues in getting this discount when they clearly qualify and meet the terms and conditions set out by vodafone.

Just remember guys, you have 7 days to cancel your contract after taking it out. This is exactly what I will be doing if I do not hear back from Vodafone.

The discount is a great way to attract customers, but the management of it is an even better way of losing customers and making sure they don't come back in the future. Way to go Vodafone!

this is the reason why i am trying hard to understand how it works. vodafone customers service is really terrible and always leave you in the dark! up to now i havent heard anyone who were able to get this discount.

I was wondering if the Vodafone Employee Advantage scheme can be used when offered a deal by Vodafone Telesales, for example the retentions team, or whether it's only for the fixed website prices? I'm currently at the end of a Voda contract, and looking at various phone options.

I cant seem to find any list of employers on the link you provided. Can you provide a direct link to any such list please.

Does the discount apply only to the monthly fee or does the discount apply to the phone cost that may be payable on some contracts?

I am only interested in Vodafone if I can be sure I can get the discount. If I go to the shop can they confirm there and then whether the discount will be applied or do i have to buy the contract and then wait for a few days to find out whether I get the discount. In case of the latter situation then I would rather not buy at all.

I used to be a vodafone customer for a few years but left because of poor upgrade offers compared to the competition. After I left i was contracted by vodafone (many years ago) and was offered the same deal three offered, but stayed with three as i had already accepted their offer. If they had given the same offer in the first place I still might have been with vodafone.

Am wary about not getting the discount after joining, hence asking here. Both my contracts with three are up, so am looking out for good deals on the samsung galaxy S2 and the Samsung Galaxy Note. Are these two phones on vodafone branded software or are they stock firmware. Do you sell phones with stock firmware?

People at my work have, but you may need to go through your HR department to fond if your eligable.
