  • Hi all just had a result the Credit Card Company have refunded my £400 deposit following the discussions we had and my reluctance to put any faith in OCS.

I had previously contacted the UK manufacturer of my suite and they told me of another supplier local to me, wouldn't sell to me direct, so placed a provisional order with them.

Like Carol above I had the phone call from OCS and reluctantly said yes I still wanted it but have just taken great pleasure in sending them an email cancelling it. Have also just had a confirming phone call from OCS.

Just completed the order with the new supplier and they are promising delivery before Christmas.

I am one happy person now :j

That's great news for you and am genuinely pleased that it has worked in your favour.

To be honest, we're in a bit of a dilemma now because Yorkshire Bank have contacted us this morning with a view to refunding our deposit, but they are stating that they are aware that OCS are willing to honour some orders so before they are willing to consider our refund, they want clarification that OCS are definitely NOT able to provide the suite.....!!!! I know that OCS have told us that they can, but am concerned that by the end of January, they suddenly decide that they can't then we're left with no suite and no chance of getting our deposit back from our card supplier.......!!! I would much sooner get our deposit back and just go elsewhere....!!! This is such a nightmare!! Just wished we'd never stepped foot in that shop in the first place.....

I haven't read all the posts, but ... if any of the same people are involved in OCS as were involved in JP, then assume the worst. If so, I'd suggest cancelling and getting the refund.

OCS won't give a refund of any deposits, but they have said that they are willing to deduct the deposit amount from any orders they honour. However, I've a feeling that if you say you don't want OCS to honour your order, then you may be scuppering your chances of getting any money back from the credit card company as they're likely to come back and say that you've rejected their offer!!! That's how I've interpreted it, although I may be wrong.....!! It's like being stuck between the devil & the deep blue sea!!:(

Are any of the same people involved in OCS? If yes then go back to your CC company and say you have no faith in them honouring the order, so you wish to get your money refunded. Then cancel the OCS order once you have the refund. (As per Paddyathome).

From what other people have said on here, I believe so....

    Thanks for that.:)

Would you mind me asking, Paddy, how you found out who the manufacturer of your suite was? I know the make/model of the suite I ordered from John Peters, but have no idea who the manufacturer was. I've done a big of "Googling", but haven't come up with anything. I might go along that same route myself......

    Thanks.:)
  • Hi, carol i use to work for John peters so if you tell me the name then i will try and remember the manufacturer.
  • Hi Carol, yea did the same as you just Googled the manufacturer as I remembered it (Ashley Manor) and found a phone number for them.

I explained to the CC company (Barclaycard) that OSC were going to have to re order my suite therefore was not the original order, this is what I was told on the phone, and that I also had no confidence in OCS as at least 1 of the directors was a director of John Peters (Business Dreams).

I explained that they have a track record of liquidating so did not want to give them the opportunity to do it again and not supply me with the ordered goods and that I had a chance to order the same item from a more reputable, in my opinion, company.

They seemed happy with my argument so refunded my money. Lets just hope they don't change their mind

Thanks for that Bucksfizz2008. It's the Omega Suite, if that rings any bells with you? That would be great if you could remember the manufacturer and I'll follow the same route as Paddyathome, I think...
  • I've dug out the invoice from JP, Googled a FULL description of the Omega suite and found the manufacturer!! Unfortunately, the website is for suppliers only, but now I know the manufacturer's name, it's easy to find other online suppliers who can supply the suite at a considerably lower price than the price JP were selling it for.........

If we're successful in getting our deposit back, I shall take great delight in sending OCS an e-mail, buying our suite elsewhere and saving a bit more money by doing so......:)
