Laundry Gloop - Gloopy Thread !!!

LJM,
I saw the receipe on here for it,
its
4 litres water
1 bar of soap grated
250ml of soda crystals
Basically heat the water and dissolve the soap in it then take it off the heat and stir in the soda crystals. Then you can add some drops of scented oils if you want them but I'm going to carry on using my fabric softener so won't be adding those.
Sounds easy enough to make so will see what happens.0 -
I used Borax in mine. One caveat with the mixture once the soap and soda crystals have dissolved: add the extra water and decant it into your containers as soon as it's cool enough. I didn't, I set it aside and once at room-temp I then had a solid mass of gloop to contend with. I won't do that again in a hurry.0

Hi Ally,
As your thread has dropped down the board I've added it to the main laundry gloop thread to keep the suggestions together.

thankyou, what do you use to store it and how long do you think it it lasts:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0 -
This was my recipe:
1 grated bar of soap (I used Fairy household soap)
8 fl oz washing soda
8 fl oz of borax
A few drops of scented or essential oils if you like.
Add the soap to 1 1/2 litres of simmering water on the hob. Stir till it's dissolved. Add the washing soda and borax and stir that till it's completely dissolved. (If it hasn't the mixture will separate when cooled). Remove from the heat, pour into a bucket and fill with another 8 litres of hot water from the tap. (I didn't do this and it cooled and solidified, so please don't do this yourself). Leave it to cool and then decant into containers.
I decanted mine into 5 of those plastic 2-litre milk containers about a year ago and it's still going strong. The recipe with borax will not create any suds but the addition of it will act as a deodoriser0 -
Some months ago I started to do cold water wash only to save oil. Problem is greyish whites and some stains not coming out. Today I've had a breakthrough. I use laundry gloop or half the recommended amount of branded powder [if i have no gloop left]. I have found that dissolving the gloop/powder in a jug of hot water first and adding one little scoop of an oxy-white [stain remover] product to the jug also results in white stain free whites, lovely colours ,all in all just like a hot wash with loads of powder. I am thrilled. I am on a mission to tell everyone. yippeeee:j :j :j
ETA my normally stinking washing machine isnt smelling either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh joy.0 -

Hi all,
I have made some gloop and just using it for the first time... There are no bubbles. Is that right??

Which recipe did you use? If you've added borax to your gloop recipe there will be no suds.0
