My sister is looking to take out her 1st mobile contract.

she has found a good deal with buymobilephones.net for a blackberry curve 8520 with a free laptop for £31.00 a month.

To complete order she has to give bank details and they take £2.50, refunded immediately.

Contract is for 24 months with 02 network.

Is this company reliable and has anyone used them and had no bother.

No, this company is not the most reliable around, but I don't think that your sister will have problems with the "free" gift.

That said, all these deals with "free" gifts are usually of very poor value.

No such thing as a free lunch but I guess it depends on what you want/need - that said its probably a more reliable way of getting better value from your phone contract than going down the redemption route

She is paying BIG for that laptop at that monthly cost. Especially as the only deals I can find on that site with a free laptop @ £31 mean you pay anywhere between £109 & £149 for the handset upfront...

There is a deal (same site) from Orange, 500mins, unlimited texts, 500Mb Data on a Blackberry plan @ £25 per month with £200 automatic cashback (no redemption) and a free device, much better deal

In fact, over the length of the contract, it is a saving of £453 (assuming £109 for the device under your deal) which she could use to buy a much better laptop than she would get from BMP separately.

I would STRONGLY suggest she look around a bit more...

BTW, I have used this site extensively and have had no problems at all with them.

when they say 'a free gift' it doesnt normally come free, they put the price of the contract up or you get less minutes/texts/data for the same frice as another offer. Judging from the sounds of the company; not the best idea :L

Not really! There's no better deal than a redemption contract IF you know exactly what you're doing! I've been enjoying numerous free lunches for more than 4 years. In fact, they pay me to eat them. Currently I'm enjoying 8 at once.

Reliable was the main point. I realise you have numerous contracts running and do this for others for your own gain. Perhaps as its a money saving site rather than just patronising people who get caught out, it would be nice to share your knowledge of how to be successful with these redemption deals.

Perhaps if you actually did a minimal amount of research you'd find I already wrote a detailed and long guide JUST to help other people for NO personal gain. It's on here and often referred to by others trying to help people like you - who obviously ARE highly likely to get into trouble with such deals.

Basically you need to read the T&C carefully and follow them to the letter, sending any follow ups or demands as soon as they are overdue.

Redemtions can work, there is a risk the compnay will go under and you won't get paid, it's best to work on the assumption you won't get paid when you work out if you can afford a deal in case.

Bringing this back on topic can the OP post what the deal was and the laptop make and model so we can look into it more?

It's usualy worth checking the cost with and without the gift to see what the free gift is really costing you, however for some people the ability to pay monthly is better than a lump sum up front for the gift and they accept that it costs extra, but then so would a loan to buy the gift..

Do some homework in this forum and you will find lots of advice.

This isn't a game for the "innocent" to get involved in!!
