Perhaps as its a money saving site rather than just patronising people who get caught out, it would be nice to share your knowledge of how to be successful with these redemption deals.
I think you are missing the point, these deals can only exist if a %age of customers fail to meet the criteria for getting their cashback.
If you were guaranteed to get the cashback the deals would dissappear overnight !!
MJ is not being patronising, he is telling people to make sure they understand these deals before even considering taking one out.
The fact is, that if you don't follow the terms and conditions to the letter you will not get the cashback, thats the way it works.
Why should MJ and others (me included ) who make good money out of this lose the income for the sake of the inept 'can't be bothered until its too late brigade'.0 -
Basically, cashback deals ARE reliable IF you put in the proper legwork and follow the groundrules. "Free gifts" aren't free at all and are far less valuable and restrictive.
Actually by helping others who do get into trouble (as well as helping many who DO research well enough) we are shooting ourselves in the foot. The game becames easier to win and the the dealers reduce the attractiveness of the deals - which is to our detriment!0 -
Care to explain your comment "people like you - who obviously ARE highly likely to get into trouble with such deals." by PM is fine to save trashing the thread any further?
Your comment implying cashback is unrelaible shows that either you don't play the game well or you have very limited experience of them. If they weren't reliable I wouldn't use them and neither would the people I order for.0 -
To be fair, what he actually said was that an automatic cashback (free gift) was more reliable than multi-redemption.0
-
The point I was making was if it was reliable then the board wouldn't be filled with people who have problems.
I dont believe people should be able to profit from others on this forum - its here to provide people with money saving advice, not to help people line their own pockets.0 -

We are not profiting from others, these cashback deals only exist as long as some people fail with their claims.
Once people understand/accept this they will understand MJ's warnings.
If they ignore the warnings and fail to fully understand the terms and conditions then when things go wrong there's no point coming on MSE bleating on about what a scam it is.
If they follow the terms and conditions they will get their cashback and if everyone is successfull the deals will dissappear or drop in value to the point that they become not worth doing ( Thanks grumbler )0 -
Sorry run that past me again? MJ and others take out contracts for other people and make money in doing so. How is that not making money from others?
the deals only exist because of the number of people who fail to claim their cashback. If the business practice wasn't so shady that it had to rely on people who either dont or cant understand whats going on then it would fail anyway.0 -

In my case, for example, I would take out a contract for a relative who has credit problems. I take the risk of things going wrong and then if everything works out I split the cashback with them.
They are happy that they get a good mobile with a decent tariff and some cashback.
I am happy to have helped someone and get rewarded for my time and effort with some of the cashback.
I have so far taken out 33 contracts over the last few years and never failed to get the cashback.the deals only exist because of the number of people who fail to claim their cashback. Yes some retailers doing redemption deals have gone bust but the main players are still going strong....and long may they continue.0 -

So you make money - profit as its otherwise known. I'm sure your financially struggling relatives (all 33 of them) will be very grateful for your selfless help......0
