Have tried this challenge loads of times and always fail. But will not be beaten. Will start my month from 28th Oct - 27th Nov. And going for £300. This for me, dh and 2 cats. Going to reduce my waste which is shocking and cook from scratch (have at least a 100 cookbooks) and stop takeaways. Going for a meal on Sat night but this was planned so not worrying about this. Also have 2 groupon vouchers for nice meals out so no need to hit takeaway shops as lots of little treats this month. Going to go and lift £300 out bank and put it in a purse and buy out of this as am terrible for forgetting what I have spent.Yearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.0

Hi,
Could someone please put me down for £500 for this month please. It's a 5 week month for the 5 of us this month. After last months success I am actually confident I can make it even though I have already spent £120.

Have you thought about buying a whole bag, then dicing/cutting and bagging and freezing them yourself (if you use lots regulaly i mean)? I used to do that, as i only ever used 1 at a time. NOw i am just lazy and buy a big bag of frozen diced onions from asda!!:D
I've just done this for the first time (I don't use a huge amount of onions and invariably waste some:( as I don't get through them before they go bad) and have a wee tip for anyone trying it ..... put the bags into a tub with a lid on - it's amazing how much smell the onions still give off even once frozen!:)Quick question: I stop smoking tomorrow.
Good luck SLS - hope it's going OK on your first day:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Well, we got the monthly meal plan done last night. We both ran out of inspiration pretty quickly, so its not the most varied plan! Think we will look at recipes cards for next month!Live the good life where you have been planted.
