    Hi
I wasn't planning to kick off until 30th as my birthday tomorrow but I spent around £15 (will update later when I check the receipt) on cakes for work but not many were eaten due to loadsa people on leave/flexi etc so brough back 2 boxes for the freezer to go to twins birthday party in March (They will be 5)
will update sig later, currently pulling a shopping list together

    Update 11.17pm cakes cost £20.74
  • I meant to add, in October we bought dishwasher powder instead of tablets, it's lasted really well and we have used a small scoop to put it in the machine
In future I will be buying powder instead of tablets as it seems much cheaper.
Has anyone ever done a comparison?
  • Hi I have yet to set a figure for this month but need to save up as much as possible so I can pay off extortionate Bank debt, I don't know when the barstards are going to strike.:eek: So I can go to Scotland and save up for other bits and bobs.

  • I would love to join, I have no idea what I spend as I just buy with whatever money is left after all bills, new things needed and anything else that is not grocery are paid as income low, but we had a small inheritance in the summer which cleared our debts and bought us the things we badly needed for the home and yes some has gone in grocery shopping so bought things I wouldn't normally afford, so its gone so got to get back living on low income again. There are two of us plus 3 dogs plus granddaughter ( very fussy) is with us every weekend and I am trying to build up a stock cupboard again, had one but it got used up so I will say £150 which I know compared to what most people are saying is awful for so few of us but will keep all receipts and make notes of what I spend in corner shop and see how this it goes. This is really going to keep me on my toes and its what I need, its been to easy past few months to treat ourselves but if we want to stay debt free that has got to stop and savings must start for next years council tax, water rates etc.,

    Thanks for letting me join.

    Would you believe it?

I was looking for cakes receipt as above and found a Euromillions ticket from August - I must have bought it just before I went on hols.
    I checked it online and there's a £4.90 win on there :T:T
I'll go and claim it tomorrow

I still haven't found the cakes receipt though

  • Right i'm going for it this time. Could i please join the November Grocery challenge. I would like to set a target of £180 but am hoping to come in just under. This amount is for me, him & two lovely kids. I wont be starting until the 4th, but i'm really exited & it will help to ensure christmas will not be spent on the credit cards. thank you so much.
  • November groceries start today for me and I have just done an on line shop ( had a voucher for free delivery) - comes to a whopping £102.47 but £31.29 of that is store cupboard items to round up my stock so we could live on things in for about a month if need be, so those items will not actually be used, well I will do stock rotation, but unless I have an emergency I would not count them as part of food for the month. If I do run out of something and have to borrow from store cupboard I must ensure I replace it asap. Hopefully this is last time I need to add to stores and in future will only need to buy what we use. Biggest cost was for bottled water as had none in, in case of problems with water supply which we have had in past, it was used up and not replaced. That is my biggest fault, use things up and do not replace them one by one, so end up having to buy lots of things at once, and usually buy things we can do without and are total extras no budgeting. Today I sat and carefully choose what I was buying. Made sure I bought as many basic range items as I could that I know we like.

Popped to greengrocers on the way home from the park with the dog - spent £4 on a pomegranate, 3 bananas, 2 apples, 2 tomatoes, 2 punnets of raspberries, 4 satsumas - not bad I thought ?
I also bought small milk in Spar (use less than a small bottle a week these days) so another 49p.

That should be it for this week - its veggie sausages, mash, peas and gravy for tea using cheap potatoes from Aldi and half price Linda McCartney sausages - I'll make too much mash so I can make a cheese and potato pie for tomorrow. I'll get the hang of this using stuff up and planning lark at some point!:rotfl:
