  • Hello all :)

In preparation for my first grocery shop with an actual budget, rather than just a list, I made an interesting discovery (I'm sure you all know this, but just in case! :rotfl:)

I use https://www.resourcefulcook.com for my meal planners, as there is only two of us in the house (+1 cat), they have planners just for two people (the ones I have found to date are for 3 or 4. Instead of keeping the leftovers, we eat twice as much! :p) so I printed out my shopping list that corresponded with next weeks meals.

Then I thought I'd go on mysupermarket to see how it would all be. So I added all the items in my basket (making downshifts where I could/wanted to) and it came to £41.72 (£1.72 over my budget)

I didn't realise you could print the basket off! So I'm taking that with me to A$da! I think this is a great tool as you can't deviate from the list and you know the make, size and price of everything before you get there.

I thought this was amazing! :rotfl:

    Evening all!

Just declared for October on the other thread so thought I'd best get myself over here to kick-off Nov - can't believe we're on page 7 already.

Please can you put me down for £250 please Helen - thank you!

Well, I managed to come in just under budget for October and was planning on doing an on-line shop for delivery on Tues to start Nov (this would be my BIG shop for the month) but all plans have had to change. My daughter went to the hospital last Monday to get a lump on the roof of her mouth checked out and they've booked her in to have it removed this monday. So I'm off up to Lancashire to look after my DGC (3 of them). I've done an on-line shop to be delivered there so we've got some basics and some treats (well, if nanna can't spoil them...) - think this will have to come out of my 'miscellaneous' budget as I've still got to buy food for DH at home and do our stockup for the month. Not sure how long I'll be there for, will depend how she feels on Tuesday.

Best go and re-do this week's meal plan for DH as several of our meals are in the freezer and in two portion sized packs (and yes, if he defrosts it he'll eat all of it!)

catch up with you all again soon

  • Well I ventured into teh local shop and I bought the two chickens that were going cheep:)ish.

So they are striped and either frozen as per piece or made into "dump chicken" plus pie filling and stock - all in freezer. Can't get another dickie bird in there.

But also stocked up on following

    2 Tyhoo t bags(80's) @ £1 each
huge bag of spuds (for jackets)
    1 jar kenco rappor (downshifted a month back it's ok @ £1.19
    1 reduced red pepper @ 40p
    carrots
    mushrooms
and of course 2 fresh chickens

    Total to declare £10.88

Don't normally buy peppers as I think they are expensive and I struggle to use them up but have blitzed this one already with onion and garlic and used as a maranade base for the chicken and it went into the pie filling too so it's not wasted.

    Off to update sig.

Enjoy strictly & X factor all:)

Please can you put me down for £350 for November. I have reduced my spend as dGS is out of nappies now so that will be a saving. I have £80 out of the above marked for another commitments.
    Goodluck everyone,
    Every days a School day!
  • NSD today
I need to go shopping to get stuff for packed lunches but had kids with me and
    a) they run riot in the supermarket
    b) I usually end up buying more than I should when they are with me

Will try to get away tomorrow for a quick shop
