Result: guy in the shop took ages to serve him because he had his back to the door and was online shopping, but when he did get served, two large portions of chips = £5  - and they weren't that great, either.
last time dh and i shared a big bag of chips he paid £2.40:eek::eek: wepaid £5 for a 56lb sack....im going to make my own in future

Blimey! Thats almost as bad as the £5 we were charged at the fireworks for two medium whippey ice cream cones! You can kinda understand being overcharged at an event, but for chips from the local chippy thats crazy!

  • spent £60.48 in ald* this morning. weekly budget is £50...but £6 of that was on 2 kids B'day pressies for next weekend and £10 on DH beer which he agreed is to be kept separate, so £5.50 under with the rest of the week planned to be ns. oh, except I have to find £10 to cover dd2 nursery trip to see charlie and lola at the theatre!

I've been right through my freezer today and i've written a list. i've been meaning to do it for weeks now and i'm glad i've finally got round to it. i reckon I must have enough meat in there to last at least a month, longer if DH keeps up all the overtime (he gets free meals in work;)) I'm veggie, so i dont count:p, just 'im and the squids. so although I'm keeping the budget the same i'm just about to do a meal plan for the next 2 weeks based just on whats in:cool:. would be so nice to come in under budget for the month:D

I bought an ice cream for my OH earlier in the summer. I was cross at what was handed over to the extent that I was very tempted to hand the ice cream back to the ice cream man and say TRY AGAIN !

I've been busy in the kitchen today - made a chilli and a beef casserole. This means tea is sorted for the next few nights and there are meals in the freezer too :j

Hoping to stay out of the supermarket until the weekend :j:j:j:j

  • rej-c and Tessie - that is extortion for a portion of chips!! The chippie by me do a regular portion for 90p and a large (enough for a family) for £1.40. I get them sometimes as a treat for the kids, however I no longer buy chinese there because sweet and sour with fried rice is now over £7 which is madness.

Went to Aldi this afternoon but only got a few bits and pieces - got a pizza reduced and had it for tea with some BBQ chicken legs - was yummy. I got some of Aldi's bottled American BBQ marinade which was half price for 34p and it was absolutely lovely -so I might go and get some more tomorrow!

Have meatballs for tomorrow night's tea, but have friends coming round for lunch so will make a big pan of chicken and vegetable soup with my chicken carcass in the morning and have that with ham rolls when they come.

I bought some sausages from the butcher the other day and we had them for breakfast today with potato cakes. I had forgotten how much nicer butchers sausages were than the supermarket ones which I have been buying lately. The only thing is they are three times the price - I pay £1 in Aldi or Sainsburys for their pork sausages (500g) but these were £3 for 500g! - they were made on the premises and were fab though!!

Hi everyone, thought I'd creep back after unexpectedly getting a full-time job and taking some time to adjust to it so am a bit late starting the GC for November. Please put me down for £180 and that is for 3 1/2 weeks starting today. That will be for food, toiletries and cleaning products but not meals out etc.

Will be going to do a big shop tomorrow night and that will hopefully keep us going for most of the next week. Then try for a smaller shop next monday as I would like to get creative with what's in the cupboard.

have meal-planned for the week already.
