I know that we have many contributers from all dietary choices (in fact there are times if I wonder if I'm the only regular poster who is vegan!
I have been vegan for 14 years and vegetarian for 13 years before that!

I was thinking I have had chickpeas and lentils together in a soup I had in a restaurant in east London last year. It was nice. I must try that sweet potato curry recipe.

Madeleine Olivia did another recipe where she put noodles in a curry and I don't think I have ever tried that either! :)

I imagine that you had similar experiences to me with people not even knowing what vegan was back then Wednesday! 😂😂😂
I've had noodles in curry before - can't say I was a fan though! I seem to remember that it was when I first saw curry packet noodles and thought 'there's a plan!' 🙈😂 perhaps shop ones are better - not convinced they would be though!
Greenbee - I got the email from the ethical consumer a couple of days ago 😁 I haven't responded to it yet though!  I have similar experiences of having to give up on buying things as I can't find an ethical version - but on occasions have had no option but to buy something which I know isn't great (thinking things like cars, windows etc) smaller items are a lot easier - I guess it's down to the economy of scale but it's annoying nevertheless! 🙈
I've decided against cooking the banana blossom today - the gardening aches are not improving and the thought of having to clean the kitchen following deep-frying is just too much to cope with! 😂 I've eaten bbq beans and black-eye pea 'hommous' (they were leftovers in the fridge) and a microwaved sweet potato for lunch and dinner is likely to be frozen chips - anything quick that means I don't have to be upright! 😂

Veganism has almost become mainstream now. I know it isn't nice to read about people eating meat or fish or dairy on here but it shows how much progress we have made that people are even interested in plant based eating. Back in 2006 when I went vegan I felt like a social leper. :(

I think it was around 2013 that things really changed and more and more vegan products were brought out here. :)

I went vegan back in 1999 (although I dropped it for a 13 month period a few years back when having a bit of an existential crisis 🙈) and was veggie for 15 years prior to being vegan - being a social leper always suited my misanthropic tendencies though!! 😂😂 Eating out was an issue - and is again but for different reasons obviously! - but I have found in the past 18 months or so that it's easy now 😁 However, I have been out to places where you order the vegan option and they bring you a side that absolutely isn't! 🙈 Makes me nervous about eating the vegan options in 'mainstream' places - I'm not certain if they really get what it means!

I became vegan as a teenager back in about 1993... a reaction to being fed too much cheese as a vegetarian I think! I didn't find it particularly difficult, but ate a lot of Indian food, vegetable stir-fries etc. I loathed soya milk, pretty much the only option then, so coffee and tea were black or herbal. Eating out was OK - asking for pizza without cheese just made people think you were on a diet. I still mostly eat vegetables, so the primary makeup hasn't changed that much... I may not be vegan anymore, but I'm as picky about the welfare of my veg as I am about the rest

I was on a forum the other day where someone was asking for meal ideas as they said they 'don't eat meat, so just chicken, turkey and fish' ... I decided not to explain what chicken and turkey were... Unfortunately when your food comes in plastic trays from the supermarket you probably have very little idea about what it actually is.
