Caravan, camping and holiday cookery

We always go on caravan holidays. Even when the caravan is in the middle of nowhere, there are supermarkets near the places we go out to visit...
So, we take a box/bag of basics - salt, pepper, sugar, coffee, tea, stock cubes, ketchup, brown sauce, jam, oil, vinegar, herbs, few tins tomatoes, tuna, baked beans, bread, milk, eggs, bacon, pasta, rice, cereals.
Dinner for the first night goes into the cool box frozen, and acts as an extra ice pack...
Breakfast the first morning is also sorted, from the bag of basics.
Then we just pick up stuff from the big supermarkets when we're out and about. Or we get free range eggs from local farms. And freshly picked strawberries.
If the weather's good, we'll barbecue a lot. If it's not good, we'll cook the same things we cook at home.
The 'holiday flavour' seems to make it tastier...0 -
If you are used to supermarket own-brands and value brands, it is worth remembering that site shops and local small-scale grocers often only stock named brands, usually at inflated named-brand-prices. Financially there is the double-whammy of up-stepping a brand and then paying over the odds for it. Depending where you are and what transport you have, there's probably access to local full-size supermarkets but its worth checking out the local area just to be sure.0

This thread should help:
Caravan, camping and holiday cookery
I'll add your thread to it later to keep the ideas in one place.

What do you normally have at home? Does the caravan have a microwave? What will your wee one have if you are having jars of sauce?
I'd have anything you can cook on a hob or microwave. I've never really "got on" with caravan ovens (that could well just be me, lol).
On a budget I'd have macaroni cheese, sausages and mash, chicken with noodles etc. Cereal for breakfast and soup or sandwiches for lunch depending on whether you're in or out.0 -

we went to parkdean and it had a fridge with small freezer box in the top if that helps.
They also have toasters so you could knock up beans and toast or egg on toast easy.
I took jacket spuds-you can leave them cooking while your off in the park.0
