OS Daily Tuesday 25th October

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 25th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

For us early birds! Been up since 2.45 - when I was joined by DS2 - wet bed, so his bedding is washed. My legs have nasty cramps so thought I'd rather get up than thrash around in bed. Have had coffee, watched loads of news and listened to the rain POUR down. Going to light the fire in a minute. Have loads of ironing to do today so plenty of OS going on. PROMISE!!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

There! And I thought for sure I'd be the first today. esmf I've heard of 'early to bed, early to rise' but this is ridiculous. I wonder if you managed the early to bed bit, if not you are going to be exhausted by lunchtime. any chance of a siesta for you? and to start being OS before 5.00am wins you my undying admiration.
Me, I've managed my 6 hours sleep all in one chunk so am ready to go, not. A cup of tea and another hour in bed with a book is in order I think. Being retired has great compensations.
I'll see you lot later when the day has aired.
    Oh, and Good Morning everyone.

Oooh lighting a fire sounds lovely, i've just done my equivalent- hitting the "override timer" button on the central heating :D
Morning all, cold and dark (what else did i expect?). OH just left for work, the poor bloke is ill and barely slept, it's sods law it happens on his second day there. I don't have to leave for work for another hour so i'm going to get my yoga on as my back is sooo stiff.

Breakfast is a smoothie from the batch I did yesterday and some porridge, for lunch I have stir fry veg and noodles in a bag. The microwave broke at work yesterday and not sure when we will get a new one, so i've got something I can cope with eating hot or cold. I want to try spicy chinese cabbage parcels for dinner but sure i'll have the time, if not it will be curry from the freezer. The only good shop for cheap bagged spices and curry ingredients round here is asda. It makes me miss birmingham where it was easier to find cumin seeds than heinz baked beans!

Morning all - feel like I'm up late compared with you lot! :)

Wet here, too, so washing will go on airer and in TD. Got my nephew today, so shame it's wet and kids can't play out.

Tea not christened yet, may be various leftovers as the fridge is bursting at the seams. Also need to do a proper food stocktake and use up all sorts before starting to prepare fridges/freezers for Christmas.

Yesterday I did my first zumba class and bought my first ever slow cooker - so now I ache all over but am looking forward to playing with my new toy! :D

Have a good morning all, hugs and kisses to all.

    A xo

Morning folks, my, you lot are early risers - or up before your clothes as my granny used to say - What a night of wind and rain here, its been awful! Dont Think there is any point in doing my hair this morning LOL!
Busy day ahead, starting at 8, then that will be me right through until quarter to six, end of month is always busy!
It will be chicken casserole and mashed tatties, broccolli and carrots for tea. HM Soup will be taken to work for lunch, along with a bit of my clootie dumpling.
Tonight I am going to sort out christmas lists etc, and see what i need to do/get rather than leaving everything until December.

Have a good day and stay safe and dry! (((HUGs))) to anyone in need.

    It did work :)

What does Bore Da mean? And what language is it, please? I'm thinking it's a form of Good day or Good morning?

I'm up bright an early this morning as it's cleaning day. And I would really rather spend the day on the sofa with a good book. I get bad PMS and it's that week so I am Grumpy Miss. Anyway, the cleaner will essentially be doing the OS for me today although I shall probably spend a portion of time looking at wool in town while she's busy ...

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Morning all
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup. I put petrol in the car on the way back. I have a big pot of lentil soup & a big pot of mushroom soup & a big pot of tomato & pepper soup simmering on the hob, a piece of ham in the remoska to make hubbys packups with & a lamb shank defrosting for tea tonight. I'm making soup whenever I can at the moment as DD1 has a very stressful placement ATM, the children have been badly treated & are challenging, she's loving making a difference but the first thing that goes is her appetite, however she can always manage Mum's homemade soup, DD2 is feeding DGD2 mashed up proper food & again my homemade soup is great for little ones with a bit of mashed potato added to thicken it up.
BB, I'm definately not an angel, lol. Glad the funeral went well.
    Beth congratulations to you all.
ESMF I hope you get some more sleep
    Welcome Cariad.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
PS, Laura, Bore Da is welsh & Cariad is welsh for darling, I think.
