OS Daily Monday 24th October

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday October 23rd. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning all!

3 days on the trot i've woken at 6am, think this may be my new habit!

Spent the afternoon in the pub yesterday :o but didn't spend anything as my friend owed me a few drinks because i'm turning into his personal taxi service!

Came home and cooked a roast which was lovely, and watched downton then early to bed!

Got to pay in a cheque today, and pup is tired out from being out all day yesterday so think he will want to stay home today.

Defrosting lamb for OH's dinner and i'm going to have meatballs :)

Need to get petrol in a minute, then sort lunches out for today, and clean kitchen and also put another wash in the machine! (Not all the morning!)

    Have a lovely day all

Damp & drizzly here today so no need to de ice the car.
Plans today include dropping a loaf of bread & some milk round to DD, counting all the change in the house & paying it in to the bank, going to the chemist for some painkillers for hubby, he's ok but took the last ones yesterday & I like to keep some in ready, looking in the charity shop for a couple of jumpers as I've had to throw 2 of mine away that I ruined at work & buying some chilli sausages from the butchers. I have an old red & cream curtain somewhere & I need to find it to make a knitting needle roll, I want to make some dolls clothes & so will look through my stash for suitable fabric.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

  • Good morning everyone.
Quite windy here today. Am not sure what the weather is supposed to be like today, haven't looked yet.
No real plans as such today. Dd's want to go into town, so will take them at some point. The bus services have been cut here, quite dramatically to how they were.
Tea will be left over chicken from yesterday, probably with salad and potatoes.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Morning everyone

Still dark here but dry, not sure about the temperature as haven't ventured out yet. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.

Work today and have to go early as need to drop boys off to mum and dad's, then am opening at work. No more work after today though have some time off, was going away but plans all gone pear-shaped so hopefully boys still going with parents - they will leave tomorrow if they go.

Didn't really do that much over the weekend, although DH has now got my greenhouse built in situ and secured to the ground - I now need to get planning what I want to grow, where and when. DS1 had rugby training yesterday so dropped him off, came home and prepped veg etc for lunch then went back to watch last hour of training. Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/brocc cheese, carrots, peas, gravy and yorkshires and have some LO's - think that will be tomorrow night's dinner. DH took DS2 with him to take some equipment over to our friend who is new Chairman now DH has finished his 3 year term. Now have more room at home and they just need to sort out the disco equipment that's in my loft - this needs to be taken away and stored by them. Dinner tonight will be fish, chips/jacket, b/beans/veg.

Really ready for some time off, going to my bros on Sat - so that will be nice to see him.

Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, take care.

    WEIGHTLOSS SINCE JUNE 2009 - 5 ST 2LB
  • Morning all, before and after!

Had a lovely sleep last night and am feeling good this morning - long may it last! It's black as pitch here and sounds quite windy. I won't be going out as I'm waiting on a delivery that may/not arrive today - it's a big canvas print of my fave. photo of Sammy-cat.

OS plans are to get the house ready for the cleaner (ie pick up the mess I've scattered over the weekend) and then do some writing and reading before I go to an exercise class tonight. Am pleased as my scales say I've lost 2lbs so we'll wait and see what the 'official' weigh in says!

Have a good day everyone :)

    Morning all,
Woke at 4.45 and couldn't get back to sleep just as well because DD phoned in tears at 5.50 saying "I just want my Mum" She's had an awful sleepless painful night. Contractions started at 10pm ended at 3am. As she was only 2cm dialated she sent SiL2b home to get some rest. This labour is the complete opposite to the last one. I just want to be with her and hug and comfort her and tell her everything will be alright.
I need to sort out a few things for SiL to take in when he visits her today. I've taken some lamb chops out of freezer that I'll cook for his dinner along with roast pots & veg, I've made some beef sarnies for him to take for his lunch as buying food in hosps is quite expensive. When DGD goes for her nap this afternoon I'll pop down to return their ironing I did y/day, let their dogs out and give a quick clean around, make bed etc. DH wil listen out for DGD.
DH & DGD are tucking in to scrambled egg & bacon whilst I am sat here with a coffee and 2 matchsticks for my eyes.
Hope it's a stress free day for everyone. ((((((((hugs going free, help yourself ))))))))

Morning all - hugs Beth - fingers crossed.

Lots of OS going on here today. Boys both up watching tv. First load of washing out on the line (OS!!) and second lot on the go. Thats all my washing then done and will be out drying in the wind. Loads of ironing to do tonight - meaning no temptation to take boys out to cinema! Today we're using a voucher to go to see Birds of Prey - which will be nice. Dinner will be something from the freezer, might make huge burgers - the boys will enjoy them.

Need to shop for veg and milk, otherwise thats me! The mountain of washing I came home to yesterday is now all done / doing, and the house is relatively tidy. Tomorrow is forecast to be wet, so we'll use tomorrow to do housework and light the fire, today will be a day out. Want to make some cakes to take to Mum later in the week, and is cheaper to feed the boys with cake than it is to buy junk from the shops!

Hugs to those who need them (((( Hug )))) x
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
