I was always fairly militant as a young mum, never even had a bottle in the house but I saw otherwise sensible mums with toddlers asleep with bottles of fruit juice still in their mouths. If I even hinted that this was possibly not a brilliant idea as pure fruit juice is full of sugar- they always insisted that fruit juice can't possibly be bad for you. I even remember a health visitor mentioning this at the pre birth talk and some well to do middle class woman asking sarcastically 'well what else do you give a thirsty baby then clever clogs'.

I didnt leave them with bottles ( breastfed so they wouldnt even use them ! ) , but I gave my daughter fruit juice , thinking it had to be good for her , but of course it wasnt and it damaged her baby teeth ..I was advised to give it to her by health visitor btw

These dangerous items seem to be well hidden in ebay.
If you put in the search terms R o m a n y baby, there are lots of lots of sellers doing this apparently. The link that I showed was just related to feeding items, there are many more.A blanket with jewels on!!!! Also muslin cloths with jewels on.
Is there any rule as well about describing " customised " things as new also?

Actually, full sugar ribena is better, I went to school with a boy who's parents had given him full fat ribena in a bottle as a baby and he had no teeth, just black stumps. Still makes me shudder to think of it now.

As part of an old job I had I saw many case histories with dental records and a mouth full of black stumps was not unusual. There were children suffering the most appalling pain whose parents did nothing because their limit of understanding was to go to the doctor- who of course told them to go to a dentist- but they couldn't be bothered.

Yet the powers that be seem to think all dental decay can be solved by forcing fluoride onto the masses via drinking water- but best not get me started on that one.

Back on topic, I can't find a contact for Chanel anymore- they have hidden it very well- I am still searching though.

Probably from the same school that the local community midwives locally went to who believed that breastfeeding did not give a baby enough fluid and calories to survive and that we middle class mothers refusing to supplement their diet, even as newborns, were harming our babies.

I think I ought to go and do some work now- heaven help this thread if I start getting militant again- sorry peeps- I'll behave now.

Hmm, how would we in the UK go about raising this issue more publicly?
