Ok, well today marked the final day of week three of this months spending diary and for the first time in gawd knows how long I have spent the least amount of money possible. I have only spent £41.75, had five NSDs and have taken a packed lunch everyday. Go me! I normally spend a heluva lot more.

The final week in my diary lasts eight days but this is one day shorter than last week. My car is having its annual health check but I classify it as an expected spend - a bit like a bill really so I won't be including it as a spending day. I don't include bills because they come out of my bills account which doesn't have an OD. I don't even know the PIN for that account as I burnt it when it arrived all those years ago.

Next payday month is going to be really tough as I have got to stay out of my OD. It is being paid off once and for all. As long as I split the month into manageable chunks then I should be ok. In the past, I saw the month as being a huge expanse of time and space - one that went on forever and ever and it isn't like that at all. I can do it. I just need to be positive and tackle each day as a brand new day. And put off spending. But still have lots of fun at the same time.

Having said that, I do need to nip to the supermarket tomorrow but I will take a shopping list and carry a basket with me. If I wasn't working, I would walk there because walking limits the amount you buy. Method in the ole madness ;)

Right, need to get my jobs done and pack my work bag before Sherlock is on :)

ETA: Just did my internet banking and found that I had been paid for two mystery shopping jobs that I did a while ago. Just need to update my signature. You know, I really do hope that 2012 really is the year that I finally change my ways and become money savvy. Oh I do hope that it is

    ETA2: Goals for the week
    1. Take a packed lunch to work everyday.
    2. Go to the gym at least twice.
    3. Cancel Sky once and for all.
    4. As many NSD as possible.
    5. Plenty of early nights.
    6. Eating courtesy of the freezer and cupboards.

I have had two spending days. Only spent a few pounds though. I'm hoping that today will be an NSD but we will see. My mum died last night so I'm a bit numb right now. We knew it was coming but didn't expect it so soon. She wasn't in any visible pain at all. I'm not going into work this week.
  • I am so sorry to hear that snozberry. I'm glad she wasn't in pain but that doesn't lessen your loss. Its natural to feel numb- it will take time to sink in even if it you knew the time was coming. my thoughs are with you (((hugs)))

    Pay day tomorrow - good.

I telephoned work today and explained that I wouldn't be in until after the funeral. They are fine with that. I did want to go back this week but I think that it is too soon. My body doesn't feel right and there is too much to do here.

So, being harsh, my mourning will end on the 1st of Feb. New month = new start. I will be back with the money saving and debt busting attitude. I think that two weeks to mourn my mum is ok. I have been reading threads whereby people have had anxiety attacts and have been suffering for months and months. My mum would kill me if I ended up like that (no pun intended). We have to write the service this week and make sure that the minister is as well prepared and informed as possible.

Well, I have been paid today from my proper job and from mystery shopping. This means that my overdraft has gone. It has been paid off - good. This month will be a struggle as I will have to stay out of it. I just need to re-educate my brain. I have also paid all of my bills and updated my spending diary. I neglected it last week as my mind was elsewhere. I mean, it isn't everyday that your mother dies.

I don't have any appointments in regards of the funeral until later today so, this morning will be spent cleaning my house and decluttering. Whenever I am stressed, I get the bin bags out.

Anyway, I will be living off a tenner a day and the money needed is sitting in my bank account. Ohh it's going to be tough! (but I can do it)
  • You've done so well in clearing everything. With your determination £10 a day will be no problem!

I hope so. I just know that when I am down I tend to spend. At the minute, everything is in limbo. I just need to stay strong after the funeral and concentrate on housework lol

Next debt to clear is my CC. I have paid £100 off it today and there is £600 outstanding. My deadline is July but am aiming for an earlier date.

I updated my signature today - shopnscan and mystery shopping is helping! Still waiting for Valued Opinions to validate a few surveys and I only need 80p (I think) on Opinion World.

Have a few things earmarked for ebay which I will list either today or tomorrow - definately by the end of the week.
