Cars on motability scheme are now limited up to AP £2000

Something somewhere tells me that people on benefits driving round in brand new BNW's is wrong when the working man can barely afford to run an old banger.
But hey who am I ?
DLA isn't an out of work benefit. In fact rather a lot of people use their motability mota to get to work, and those driving beemers will have had to stump up a good few grand from their own pockets in advance. I wonder how they came about that money? Oh yes, WORKING.0 -
OK you see it your way I see it mine!
If someone asks how you can afford the car what do you say?
"I pay for it" Fine, but the money to pay for it never touches your bank account! The government pay for it on your behalf out of your welfare payments.
Of course you have a choice - money or car.
But you can't say that YOU pay for it as you don't. If you didn't have the welfare payment you wouldn't be able to have it would you?

See, there you go, making assumptions.
As I said before, 70% LIKE ME do not use the Motability lease scheme, rather we choose our own format.
I drive an 11 MY Freelander GS automatic, leased from Land Rover and yes, I can afford it without the HRMC as I leased the car before being awarded the HRMC.
I will probably do the same again, as I believe in keeping manufcaturing jobs in this country (oh, and I HATE with a vengance BMW for what they did to mates of mine who worked at Rover and a lot more they did, BMW are a nasty bunch of *****!)
I pay £250 a month out of MY bank account to lease this car. You can't say that £200 of that is Government paid, as it comes out of my pot of money, made up of salary, HRMC and child benefit.
The whole reason for the HRMC is NOT to finance a Motability lease car, rather to assist in the extra costs associated with a disability which makes you find it difficult to do the "normal" things, regardless if you are working or not. The disability problems we have are not confined to those out of work.
You summisation that the goverment pays for my car is on the same scale as Richard Littlejohnny with his "Free" cars.
Again, I pay for my car, those who choose to use the Motability lease pay for their cars as well.
Motability leasing is no different to any other lease, apart from in a couple of areas, which make it easier for the disabled to get a car and take the worry out of obtaining safe practicable, breakdown covered cars for a vunerable section of society. However, this nasty Coalition is going to stop that, can't have the gimps having a car, they should stay off the high street in their hovels, the vermin that they are..... (these are my views of how this Blairite coalition sees us disabled not anyone elses)0 -

Having read your post I have absolutely no problem with you. Your welfare payments go into the pot.
What this subject, and I may have confused some, is about is that people will argue that the supply of a Motability car is paid for by the DLA claimant. It is not. It is a car paid for by the government direct to Motability.
As such, and apart from any AP, the DLA claimant does NOT part with ANY of his/her own money like you do.
Just looking at Motability alone, their cars are in fact 'freebies' as, accepting that no AP was paid, it hasn't cost the DLA claimant a single penny! With yours it is different, it is a private lease which you subsidise with your other income (wages).
It winds me up when people try to justify that when they have a Motability car they pay for it. Maybe they are too embarrassed to say otherwise, I don't know. But let's have the truth out - they don't pay for the vehicle the taxpayers do via the government.
To me I don't care what or where it comes from, I am just over the moon that the government fund Motability and I get to drive round in a nice motor.
If anybody has a problem with that then go and tell the government and stop bleeting on sites like this.0 -
