  • There used to be a good number of people on these boards that would search around Tesco for receipts where people had not used a Clubcard. The individuals would then take them to Customer Service and have them added to their account. Some people can stoop pretty low for very little reward.

Words fail me! Some people really need to reassess their lives.

I popped into Sainsbury for a few bits for lunch and decided on some fresh fish.

The fish counter has a sign saying "Free marinades or butter with fish" which is a nice touch, saves you having to hunt around the store for a suitable sauce. You can then cook the fish in the bag that they give it to you in, complete with the butter or marinade.

As I am on the Dukan Diet I asked for the butter to be separate from the fish as I would not be having any but my culinary victim would.

Lady behind the counter said that the store policy is not to separate them as they have had too many people ordering fish in order to get free butter (each piece is about the size of a Quail's egg btw) and leaving the fish hidden around the store and leaving with the butter.

    Words failed me.

Is this a problem anyone else has heard of, or is it time for me to move?
LOL all I can say is they must be pretty desperate to want free butter!

  • Sadly this does not surprise me one bit.
Go to my local AS** at any given time and a fair number of the clientele seem to think that the place is one huge free buffet where they can walk around eating stuff then leaving the empty/half eaten packets scattered around the store.
On another thread recently this was mentioned & sadly a huge percentage of the replies saw nothing wrong in it!

I used to work at Sainsburys about 10 years ago and the reason they stopped people being able to bring back their receipts when they had forgotten their nectar card to add the points on, was for this reason. People had been found collecting receipts from the car park of all places, where they had blown out of peoples trollies, cars, pockets etc.

Then they changed the policy again so you could bring receipts back. Not sure what it currently is. But anyway, shows the lengths some people will go to.

I would LOVE to see supermarkets actually tally up how much spoiled food (ie picked-up-and-dumped elsewhere thus rendering it unsaleable) they get - and how much cost it adds to the trolley of the average shopper.

Sadly, though, the oiks who do this probably don't realise we ALL have to pay.

If ever I change my mind I return the goods to the chiller.

What a shame a small minority always spoil things for the rest of us!

We bought some cod a few months back from the fish counter. They insisted that the butter was separate.

Although as above, I got a shock at the price!

Be careful - they'll be starting petitions about you! ;)

Spot on, the Grabbit/Tesco fan club 'possie' can be awful bullies.... ;)
