Problems with school-DELETED

You dont get to your teens and develop ADHD, they are present from birth and become apparent when they are toddlers and are picked up very quickly once they start school so if she was normal until 18 months ago she cant just suddenly "catch" ADHD.
I don't see anywhere the OP saying that her DD caught ADHD. Kick someone when they are desperate, why don't you?If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

My son who is now 23 was under the child development centre from the age of 2 but despite my concerns was told he was fine. Problems were eveident when they do the educational pyschologist test during the first year of school which they chose to ignore. At the age of 12 we started a series of meeting with a clinical pyschologist, that was mainly focused on me for the first 18 mths. When i had proved to them that i was not the problem at 14 he got a diagnosis.
I have Aspergers and I was diagnosed by accident, literally after a car accident after a childhood of seeing every professional under the sun where they all agreed I was diffrent and very clever but they couldnt diagnose me but thats very, very diffrent from my experiances with ADHD where all the problems were very evident at a very early age.0 -
Every case is different. I was 'very different' from an early age but my ASD didn't get diagnosed until I was in my mid 20s!0

To be honest with you, I dont really care what you think.
She has been under CAMHS from the age of seven, but they discharged her from the service. various reasons for this, but not any I would share with you.
Please dont bother posting anymore nasty narrow-minded and ignorant comments on any more of this thread.0 -
I find it very strange that people with disabilities seem to find it necessary to pick on others (esp children) with other disabilities as they don't feel that their disabilities are as valid. The Equality Act states
a person has a disability if:
they have a physical or mental impairment
the impairment has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on their ability to perform normal day-to-day activities
It doesn't say that any disabilities are more valid than others. It is there to protect people from discrimination which it seems that some on this board (even some of those with disabilities themselves) feel can somehow be overriden. There are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0 -

Is your daughter on School Action Plus? There are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0 -
dcems,
You should have a Parent Partnership representative attached to your daughter's school (Google Parent Partnership).
Ask them if they can attend the meeting with you, rearrange the meeting for a more suitable time if necessary. Otherwise, do you have a friend or relative who can go to the meeting with you?0 -
Yes, there is a Parent Partnership rep who did come to a meeting in April that I had with the school. I am going to email her tomorrow and try and arrange a meeting with the head and head of year 11. Her physiatrist also wanted a meeting so maybe I should orgainse with all 3?
Chivers-I didnt know anything about school action plus until I went on the IPEA website last night and saw everything on there. She is not on any kind of plan. All the school do is either put her on report, or isolation.if only i could put some of the ignorant emails I have had from some of her teachers on here to show you all what I am up against!TBH, I feel like a complete failure because maybe I should have known about this before?? I've tried to work with the school but am struggling to get them to understand my child's issues and get them to support her in the correct way. She plans to go to college so maybe I should be getting a SEN as well?
I'm so stressed.
Thanks for the supportive replies.0 -

I asked you about her history as you dont get to being her age and suddenly get ADHD, this is the type of information I asked for.
Parent partners are very good, I would fight for statementing and ignore people who claim that this is just for mentally subnormal kids, very bright kids can be statemented and the statment protects your child and forces the school to try and meet her needs.
Just because I point out the truth dosnt mean Im narrow minded or ignorant, I know ADHD inside out and your OP dosnt fit the diagnosis, I will post where and when I want as this is a public forum and not a place for their, their hand holding, you will find that and plenty of ignorant narrow minded views of ADHD on certain "ADHD support" sites, maybe you will be better off their but you wont get any help.0 -

I was investigated from age 4 and for all my school life to try and diagnose what was wrong with me but in those days people of above avarage intelligence were not diagnosed with ASD, I was in my twenties and seeing professionals after I was disabled in a serious high speed RTA when I was eventually diagnosed and the diagnosis has explained a lot but my Aspergers certainly isnt a disability but a gift.0
